Today is Red Dress Day.
To mark this day, we created a new 30-second animated video titled “Red Dress Day: In Spirit, We Remember”, a story told through movement, light, and quiet symbolism.
Without spoken narration, the video uses subtle imagery: wind moving through hair, light rising into the sky, a red dress floating and dissolving into stars. Words appear slowly, carried, and inspired by the song “Stars” by Canadian Cree musician .
The silence in this video is intentional. Silence in the face of this crisis is not.
This piece honours Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQIA+ people who are missing or whose lives were taken, and acknowledges the family members, loved ones, and survivors who continue to carry this loss.
But remembrance alone is not enough.
We encourage you to show your support, share this message, and take action by reading the 231 Calls for Justice. Learn more about why Red Dress Day matters, and how remembrance carries responsibility forward, by reading our full blog post on our “What’s New” page: 👉 https://vincentdesign.ca/whats-new/

From Remembrance to Responsibility.
A day before Red Dress Day, we pause.
Like a red bird lifting into the air and transforming into a red dress, this moment reflects spirit carrying memory forward, and the moment where reflection around Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit people (MMIWG2s+) who are missing or were taken.
Red Dress Day reminds us that remembrance alone is not enough. It calls on us to listen, to speak when silence causes harm, and to expect better from the systems around us.
What we choose to do next determines whether justice becomes possible.
We encourage you to read the 231 Calls for Justice from the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and to demand accountability from elected officials.
Free and confidential support is available 24/7 to support those during this time:

Why Red Dress Day Matters
Every year on May 5, red dresses appear across communities, moving quietly in the wind, hanging from porches, trees, fences, and windows.
We are sharing this message ahead of Red Dress Day to honour space for reflection.
Red Dress Day reminds us that remembrance is not only about honouring Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit people who are missing or were taken. It is also about their family members and loved ones, and about people who are survivors of gender and race‑based violence — and about what we choose to do with this knowledge now.
The red dress continues to move in the wind. Their memory will continue to remain with us.
We invite our social community to pause, reflect, learn about MMIWG2S+ realities, and support Indigenous‑led organizations working toward justice, safety, and healing.
