Meghan Greene and Drake Young energized the evening with the powerful rhythms and soul of their drumming and song, while Troy Westwood kept the night moving as our outstanding host.

What a wonderful evening celebrating with the Winnipeg Foundation and the 2025/2026 Youth in Philanthropy event! Felisha, SRWC's Women in Continuing Recovery counsellor, attended and reported a moving and inspiring evening featuring a fantastic dinner.

There were inspiring speeches from YIP students, alumna, 1 Just City's Community Development Lead, Harvey Heather, Winnipeg Foundation's President and CEO, Sky Bridges, and Senior Youth Programming Officer Daniel Reimer.

It was a pleasure to connect with new organizations and our friend and Chaplain Sam from the Salvation Army over dinner and conversations with Youth in Philanthropy students, Yippers!

A big thank you to the students at St. James Collegiate and Pembina Trails for their generous contribution to SRWC, supporting transportation for our participants, child minding, and our nutrition program. These funds help alleviate barriers and ensure SRWC participants have access to food, bus transport, and programming.

The youth involved in Youth in Philanthropy are making a significant impact in our community, demonstrating compassion and empathy that offer hope for the future.
This year, over 500 yippers supported 71 local charities through 125 grants, raising $185,000!

Finally, a sincere thank you to for enabling students to connect directly with Manitoba organizations. Thank you for all of the work that you do!

🥊💥👊

Yesterday, the Women and Mothers in Continuing Recovery group kicked things up a notch with an exhilarating boxing session. It was an exciting experience filled with energy and empowerment!

Located on Treaty 1 Territory, Umbrella Boxing (formerly Queer/Enby Boxing) is for members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and people of marginalized genders to learn the sport of boxing. This is a space for community members who do not feel safe or included in the current gym or boxing club environments.

Umbrella Boxing is for those who want to experience boxing and boxing fitness in an environment that rejects fatphobia, body-shaming, misogyny, and other forms of discrimination and harmful messaging about health and fitness.

Established by Jesse, a non-binary, Indigenous leader who has been a part of the boxing community since 2010, the exclusion of binary-divided sports is known firsthand.

Participants of SRWC discovered tremendous benefits in the physical and mental challenges boxing presented during our session.

Thanks again, Jesse!

Come Together, Canada: Stronger Connections, Better Mental Health.

Today, SRWC staff and participants took part in the Mental Health Awareness Week event at the Manitoba Legislative Building. This was a great opportunity to learn, strengthen social connections that can help reduce feelings of isolation, and hear from committed healthcare professionals working to enhance support throughout our province.

Special thanks to and for their outstanding contributions to our community!

The annual campaign promotes simple, everyday actions to create a more inclusive and supportive environment and to reduce mental health stigma.

Remember, connection begins with us—take one small step this week. Reach out with a message, make a phone call, smile at a stranger, or check on someone you care about.
