“Learning becomes solidarity, and solidarity is learning.”

On our 2026 Colombia journey with Jack and Irene Suderman, our group visited Las Nubes, a community on the outer edges of Barranquilla made up of people who have been forcibly displaced from other regions they still call home.

We were welcomed with generosity, honesty, coffee, bread, and stories of resilience. Community members shared about their ongoing work for education, water, electricity, safety, and dignity. We heard from young leaders learning how to advocate for their community — meeting with senators, embassies, and local officials — because, as they told us, “We have to learn to be leaders.”

This encounter stayed with us. It reminded us that travel can be more than seeing new places. It can be a way of listening, learning, and standing alongside communities whose stories call us into deeper understanding.

We’re grateful to Jack and Irene Suderman, Pastor Blas, Juan Martinez Jr., and the Las Nubes community for the gift of their welcome and witness.

Our tour experts are the heartbeat of Tourmagination, bringing knowledge, hospitality, and care to every journey.

We were so happy to spend time recently with Katarzyna Czaykowska and her family during their visit to Winnipeg from Poland. It was a wonderful time of reconnecting, sharing stories, and exploring history together, including a special visit to the Mennonite Heritage Archives. Thank you to fellow TM tour leader Conrad Stoesz, Archivist at the Mennonite Heritage Archives, for the tour and the opportunity to learn together.

The visit also included birthday celebrations, and time with family and friends, including our some of our TM family Audrey Voth Petkau, Signe Roehr, and Richard Bergmann. These relationships are such an important part of what makes Tourmagination special.
