𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲. 🤍

This recently completed transitional housing development in Winnipeg provides culturally supportive housing for women and children, with spaces designed to foster stability, connection, and a sense of community.

SMS Engineering provided the mechanical, electrical, and communications engineering for the development, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, lighting, power systems, security, and structured cabling.

Our work also included specialized ventilation systems that accommodate smudging practices while maintaining comfortable, healthy indoor environments.

A meaningful project that will provide safe, culturally responsive housing for families in our community.

Since launching our new division, we’ve been busy building relationships, taking on more assignments, sharing our expertise and getting the word out about forensic engineering.

From conferences and podcasts to lunch-and-learns, golf tournaments, career fairs, and plenty of conversations in between, we’ve had some great opportunities to connect with the industry and introduce more people to the work we do.

Our forensic team brings more than 20 years of investigation experience to the work, and it’s been exciting to see the momentum we’ve built in our first year.

We’re grateful to everyone who has been part of the journey so far.

The new expansion adds an 𝗜𝗻-𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁, 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴, and 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲 — each playing a key role in improving care, capacity, and reliability across the campus.

From modern patient spaces and specialized clinical areas to upgraded building systems supporting the entire hospital, this expansion helps strengthen healthcare for communities across southern Manitoba.
