Dr McLean grew up in Scotland.
He was born and raised just south of the city of Glasgow. He attended the University of Edinburgh Medical School graduating in 2011. He went on to complete his post graduate foundation and specialty training (residency equivalent) in the Glasgow, Forth Valley a Tayside health boards in Scotland. This involved 4-6 month rotations in hospital and community posts including: General/Orthopedic Surgery
