If youâve been feeling unmotivated, mentally foggy, or emotionally disconnected but blaming yourself for being âlazyâ itâs time to pause and reframe. What youâre experiencing may actually be burnout. đĽ
Burnout isnât a lack of willpower. Itâs your nervous systemâs response to prolonged stress, emotional overwhelm, or unmet needs.
Here are a few common signs of burnout:
đĽ You feel emotionally numb or âflat,â like youâre just going through the motions
đĽ You struggle to concentrate or remember things you normally wouldnât forget
đĽ Youâve lost motivation for tasks, even ones you used to enjoy
đĽ Youâre more irritable than usual or feel detached from others
đĽ You feel physically and mentally exhausted, even after resting
Burnout is is a signal from your body that itâs been running on empty for too long. We can help you explore the roots of burnout, challenge the âpush throughâ mindset, and create space to recover. Sessions are available in-person in Whitby or online across Ontario. Tap the link in bio to find a time that works for you. đ
Not every heartbreak comes from betrayal.
Sometimes the person wasnât toxic.
They werenât cruel.
They didnât do anything âwrong.â
You simply grew in different directions.
And that can be one of the hardest losses to explain.
When a relationship or friendship ends without a dramatic reason, people often ask, âBut what happened?â as if there must be a villain in the story. The truth is that sometimes love, care, and good intentions arenât enough to keep two people connected in the same way forever.
You can grieve something you chose to leave.
You can miss someone and still know the relationship wasnât right for you anymore.
You can feel sadness and relief at the same time.
đ 3 ways to navigate this kind of grief:
1ď¸âŁ Stop trying to justify your decision to everyone.
Not everyone needs to understand your reasons for them to be valid.
2ď¸âŁ Allow yourself to miss the good parts.
Missing someone doesnât mean you made the wrong choice. It means the relationship mattered.
3ď¸âŁ Grieve the future you imagined.
Often weâre not only grieving the personâweâre grieving the plans, expectations, and version of life we thought weâd have together.
Some endings donât come with slammed doors.
Some arrive quietly, with gratitude, sadness, and the recognition that youâve outgrown what once fit.
And that kind of grief deserves space, too. đą

That knot in your stomach on Sunday evening? Youâre not alone.
The âSunday Scariesâ are a very real experience for many people. As the weekend winds down, our minds start fast-forwarding into Mondayâs responsibilities, deadlines, and to-do lists. Before we know it, weâre mentally at work before weâve even finished dinner.
If youâre feeling anxious tonight, try these three things:
⨠1. Write down tomorrowâs top 3 priorities.â¨Your brain doesnât need to hold everything. Put it on paper and let your mind clock out for the evening.
⨠2. Do something enjoyable before bed.â¨Watch a favourite show, read a book, take a bath, cuddle your dog, or enjoy a sunset. Remind yourself that Sunday isnât over yet.
⨠3. Talk to yourself like you would a friend.â¨You probably wouldnât tell your best friend theyâre going to fail at everything tomorrow. Offer yourself the same compassion.
Remember: anxiety likes to make predictions, not promises.
Take a breath. Monday can wait until Monday. đ
Employee engagement is in troubleâand itâs impacting mental health.
Did you know that only about 1 in 5 Canadian employees report being truly engaged at work?
When employees feel disconnected, undervalued, unsupported, or psychologically unsafe, the consequences extend far beyond productivity.
Low employee engagement has been linked to:
âŞď¸ Increased stress and anxiety
âŞď¸ Higher rates of burnout
âŞď¸ Emotional exhaustion
âŞď¸ Sleep difficulties
âŞď¸ Reduced resilience
âŞď¸ Increased absenteeism
âŞď¸ Higher turnover and workplace conflict
Mental health concerns have also become one of the leading reasons employees take short- and long-term disability leaves in Canada, with anxiety, depression, stress-related disorders, and burnout among the most common causes.
The takeaway?
Employee engagement isnât just an HR metricâitâs a mental health issue.
When people feel heard, supported, valued, and connected to meaningful work, they are more likely to thrive. Healthy workplaces donât happen by accident; they are built through strong leadership, psychological safety, authentic connection, and a culture that recognizes people as humans first.
How engaged do you feel at work right nowâthriving, surviving, or struggling?
