MTC - Shield our community

As our donated materials have dried up and our volunteers head back to work (myself included), we will no longer be making these shields at home. We have dropped off our last donation of 100 shields to community living in Oshawa today. We would like to thank MTC and our volunteers that enabled us to donate over 4,000 shields to our frontline workers and at-risk members of Durham community.

MTC has started producing these shields at their facility in Whitby using a medical grade PET plastic that is visually superior and adheres to Health Canada standards. They can be purchased on MTC Factory Outlet website. Please follow a link below:

We would like to thank all of our volunteers that have enabled us to get out 1,000 shields since Thursday! A big THANK YOU to: Annie, Tallie, Howard, Stephanie, Ryan, Donna, Frank, Brenda, Lyza, Farzana (sorry if I missed anyone). If you have already confirmed your address, more shields are being constructed and delivery teams will be out again Wed, Thurs, & Fri.

Today we have over three hundred shields being delivered by 4 volunteers across Durham, mostly in Oshawa. Any confirmed shields in Courtice will be delivered tomorrow. Look who we have delivering today, none other than MTC owners Howard & Stephanie Humphrey!

We have had numerous requests from people who wish to donate to our cause. If anyone does wish to donate, we ask that any donations be directed towards our local Port Perry Hospital.

UPDATE! Busy, Busy, Busy… working non-stop to fulfill the initial wave of requests. Thank you to all our volunteers who help to deliver. Hello everyone :) We have had hundreds of requests today! Thank you for all your kind words. It is my husband and I making these at home so please understand if I can't answer immediately. We will get to your requests as soon as possible. Another 200 shields have been picked up in the last 24 hrs and another 200 will be assembled tonight for delivery tomorrow. MTC has donated us a delivery team tomorrow so we can continue to build shields at home. Due to the number of incoming messages, please wait to submit your request unless you are a front line or essential worker....

At this point and time, due to the availability of the materials we donate the shields to front line workers and to those who are in direct contact with at risk people.
Please send us a message with a reason why you need a shield and your address. We arrange contactless porch drop off in Port Perry, Whitby, Oshawa, Ajax, Pickering and Bowmanville. It's easier if yo send us a PM.
