Building a Whistler where all youth belong
06/21/2026
Today is National Indigenous Peoples Day.
We're sharing this view of Black Tusk not just because it's iconic, but because it reminds us that every outdoor experience is rooted in relationship - to the land, to each other, and to the communities who have cared for these places since time immemorial.
This is the shared, unceded territory of the SkΜ²wxΜ²wΓΊ7mesh Nation and LΓlΜwat Nation. Black Tusk sits within their territories, and their connection to and stewardship of these lands continues today. We have responsibilities to learn from this relationship and to be mindful guests on these lands.
At Zero Ceiling, providing access to the outdoors is at the heart of what we do, and every day we see how transformative connection to the land can be for young people. π
We encourage our community to take time to connect with the land, learn whose territory they are on, and reflect on our shared responsibility to care for these places. This includes supporting Indigenous-led initiatives and continuing to learn beyond today. πΏ
We're so grateful to the Tenderfoot Boogie trail whisperer for supporting Zero Ceiling this year. π
Their generosity is helping more youth access the outdoors through our programs, where time in nature becomes a space for real growth. πΏ
And... This year Zero Ceiling has a team of staff and youth running the race! You can support them here - https://raceroster.com/events/2026/112207/tenderfoot-boogie-2026/pledge/team/990555
All donations support our outdoor programs for youth. π

Great news from Zero Ceiling: Jordan Mayert, our Program Facilitator, has received a U-ROC Award and was recognized by the Mayor of Richmond as a Youth Asset Champion!
Jordan has been leading our mountain access program, and the impact of these sessions has truly been felt across many communities.
"Jordan has contagious positivity. He is someone youth look up to (literally and metaphorically)." β¨
Weβre incredibly proud to see him recognized for the meaningful impact he makes supporting young people and strengthening community connections. His dedication shows up in everything he does, and weβre stoked to have him on our staff team.
Congratulations, Jordan - this recognition is so well deserved ππ

π Weβre overwhelmed with gratitude! π
Together, we reached our $8,000 matching goal, and with the generosity of our anonymous donor, that means more than $16,000 raised for Zero Ceilingβs Housing and Employment Programs! π
Every donation, share, and word of encouragement helps create a community where youth feel seen, supported, and connected. A community where barriers are removed, opportunities are created, and young people are empowered to reach their full potential.
Thatβs what your generosity makes possible. π
Thank you for showing up. Thank you for believing in our youth. Thank you for helping create a community filled with hope, opportunity, and connection.
Because of you, youth have more opportunities to build the future they deserve. π

π β¨ Housing Heroes in Action β¨π
For the past year, Zero Ceiling has been hosting a working group called Housing Heroes - a collective of changemakers from organizations across the Sea to Sky Corridor who share a vision of a community where stable, appropriate housing is available to everyone who needs it. π€π
Together, we've been working to create a coordinated access system that reduces barriers and builds clearer pathways to housing in Whistler. ποΈπ‘
We've also been advocating for amendments to long-standing land-use agreements that would allow social and supportive housing on select municipal lands - an important step toward increasing housing options for some of our community's most vulnerable residents. π£ποΈ
This work is only possible because of the dedication, passion, and persistence of our Housing Heroes. Thank you to everyone helping create a more inclusive and compassionate Whistler. π
