I’m Dave. I build MiniWarGaming communities. I JUST MOVE and tell stories about miniatures.

Now THIS is a gaming table! WOW! - Do YOU know what makes a great gaming table? Cuz…

I walked in the studio and saw this table set up and I couldn’t help but get hyped to play a game on it. But then I got to thinking (not too hard cuz that’s dangerous 😉) about what makes a gaming table great… here are my thoughts:

1. Immersion: this is easily the number 1 consideration for me. Does the table immerse and transport me to a different world? If it does, then it wins.

2. It’s Smart: and by this I mean all the pieces, scatter terrain, scenery, and buildings fit the same environment and all belong. There’s nothing worse than a terrain piece that sticks out like a sore thumb cuz it doesn’t match the rest of the table.

3. It tells a Story: good terrain serves as the scenic backdrop to the story being told through the miniatures. When I saw that warehouse/structure next to the docks on this gaming table, though at this point I’d consider this table a diorama, I couldn’t help but appreciate the thought that went into why it was chosen and how well it was placed. It told a story.

The terrain pieces on this table are from the Spires of Perdition and are 3D printable. We’re offering the digital files to print through our Kickstarter campaign: The Spires of Perdition.

I needed a day to process the loss our community has suffered over the passing of John Blanche.

Reading the many sentiments have moved me and now that I’ve had an appropriate amount of time to gather my own thoughts …

John… this one’s for you.

Like so many others I never had the honour of meeting you face to face but I have hope my words will reach you wherever your spirit finds itself. To simply say you’re a legend doesn’t pay proper justice for the actual impact you’ve had on countless lives. And most especially, to my own.

As a kid in the 90’s I didn’t know Warhammer existed.

Meanwhile, thousands if not millions of Wargamers already knew your art and immersed themselves in the visual worlds you created. It wasn’t until my mid 20’s I discovered what grim dark was.

To me, grim dark is an expression of the deepest and darkest parts of humanity made visually manifest for the soul to feast upon. It’s no wonder the moment I discovered your grim dark aesthetic I instantly fell in love with it. It allowed me to explore parts of myself I never thought I had permission to explore… never dared to explore. It inspired me… and my shackled hunger for grittier and more honest artwork was born.

The most significant impact you had on me can be summed up in a mind set I’ve taken years to develop:
I accept the light… AND… the darkness within. They coexist and are reflections of the other.

In writing these thoughts I’ve come to realize your influence has always been a part of my wargaming experience. From the games I’ve played to the tables I’ve built to the stories I’ve told. In one way or another, they were all shaped by you. For this I’ll be eternally grateful.

Thank you for following your passion and expressing yourself the way you did. The work you’ve done to pave the way will be revered and echoed for generations. You gave the rest of us permission to dream, to explore, and to share our creativity without shame and judgement.

I hope the ones you hold dear find comfort and love in the days ahead. You were an icon and a giant among us mortals. Rest in peace John.

There’s only 1 OG Gargant left in the world… how far do would you go to get it? Let’s assume cost wasn’t an issue, just distance. How far is too far?

Saw this beaut while visiting a while back. Thought I’d share the warm fuzzy. Thank me later for the dopamine 🤗

Comment “SPIRES” to get a FREE STL sample pack of the Spires of Perdition. 3D Print the Ruins today!

There was no YouTube back then. No tutorials… Just one blue book that showed you how to take a block of polystyrene and smash it into a cliff face. That book taught a whole generation of hobbyists.

Did you have this book? Do you remember it? What did YOU make from it?

Comment “BASES” if you’re a 3D printer looking to enhance your minis with NEW bases. 10,000+ STL files in total await your command!

We wanted to make these bases as easy and painless to use. That’s why we’ve focused on making sure:

They print great in both resin and FDM
They are easy to support in your favorite slicer (resin)
That no supports are needed for FDM printing
That you get clean, reliable results across all base types

Less time figuring things out. More time building your army.

Digital (STLs):
Delivered via MyMiniFactory
Sent out about 2 weeks after the campaign ends
You’ll get access after completing your pledge manager survey

Don’t have a 3D printer?
We’ve got you covered. We’ve designed each physical pledge to be a great entry point for your army, focusing on basing all of your infantry, large and small. You can then use add-ons for the larger models like monsters and vehicles.

We’ve been creating tabletop content and products for years, and we use this stuff ourselves.

Designed in-house by James Douvinos
Built for real games, not just display
Focused on practical, usable hobby solutions

Everything in this campaign comes from that same mindset - make it easier to build great-looking armies without wasting time.

Happy Wargaming!
