Well today found the dressers and the mannequins pretty much agreeing on every outfit! That is a very rare occurrence. Anyway, they are dressed and look pretty nice, so it was a great day!

The Regional Centre of Expertise (RCE) held its 18th annual Education for Sustainable Development Recognition Awards ceremony at Manitou Beach on May 29 in collaboration with the Watrous Manitou Marketing Group.

Thrift On Main was one of 41 honoured champions in sustainability from across Saskatchewan. While Thrift On Main was unable to attend the ceremony in person, Dr. Roger Petry, RCE Saskatchewan Co-coordinator shared the history of the thrift store’s inception in 2023 and spoke to how it is run by volunteers. Volunteers are made up of different segments of the community, seniors, students and families all finding new meaning and value while keeping so many items out of the landfill.

Dr. Petry also mentioned Thrift On Main is a not for profit business with any proceeds being streamed back into Watrous and area churches and community groups. Thrift On Main supports positive mental health and those in need, while adding viability and value to Watrous and surrounding area making it worthy of an award.

Thrift On Main in Watrous has several pieces that would be remarkable with a bit of fixing. Come by the store and take a look at them and see if you want to be the person to purchase and breathe new life into them.
