Heads up to Ontario used car dealers. The UCDA has refreshed its list of extended warranty companies recognized as insured, current as of June 1, 2026, and a few late entrants were just added. 🧐 🚗🚙🛻🛡️
This matters because in you can only sell warranties to consumers that are insured or registered with a secured line of credit posted with Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council (OMVIC). The UCDA treats insured products as the gold standard for both consumer and dealer protection, and recommends members stick to those.
Before you put a warranty in front of a customer, make sure the provider is on the approved list. And keep in mind being off the list doesn't automatically mean a company isn't insured, it just means you need to satisfy yourself on their underwriting.
