What beautiful weather to be outside! has been enjoying the sunshine these past few weeks while we visit a digester client to sample their raw biogas. These samples measure biogas quality and we combine that with their flow information giving insights for design and upgrading potential.

As the need to divert organic waste from landfills grows, co-digestion is gaining traction. Municipalities can put unused capacity in existing wastewater assets to work as a cost-effective strategy to preserve landfill capacity and mitigates greenhouse gas emissions.

However, co-digestion is more complicated than simply feeding new material to your digesters. In this article, Michael highlights several ancillary equipment components required to make co-digestion practical.

No trip is complete without a stop (or at least a drive-by) at a local waste treatment facility. As summer vacations get underway, Dave is planning a visit to the Econward demo site in Madrid which features their BIOMAK thermal hydrolysis pretreatment system. Currently available in Europe, the first North American application has just been approved and will be installed in at the Ulster County Resource Recovery Agency in Kingston, New York. This landmark project is expected to divert 60-70% of waste from landfill and recover more than 90% of organics from treatable municipal solid waste.
