The Annual International Development Conference is an entirely student-run conference focusing on a new theme every year.
Speakers from across Canada and around the world offer insights into global issues. The 8th Annual Conference will occur in 2018! In 2017, we hosted the 7th Annual International Development Conference on March 10th. Revived 2017 focused on challenges, issues, and developments in global health, bringing attention to the social and environmental determinants of health. Generally, our conference form
at is lecture-based with about 6-8 speakers giving talks on different aspects of the conference theme throughout the day, with a keynote speaker addressing the conference in the afternoon, followed by a Q&A panel with speakers from the day for further discussion. Our goal is to start conversations about issues within the conference theme by encouraging mingling between attendees, speakers, and booths (representing organization in Canada and Waterloo) during tea breaks, the catered lunch time, our panel discussion, and closing reception. In past years we have explored urban development, human trafficking, education, and much more.
