Not every bump is acne. Knowing the difference can help you avoid using products that may not be right for your skin.
1. Milia
Tiny white or skin-coloured bumps that feel firm and pearl-like. Unlike whiteheads, they don’t usually pop or extract easily.
2. Contact Dermatitis
Red, inflamed bumps that can look similar to acne. It often appears after using a new skincare or cosmetic product and may come with itching, burning, or irritation.
3. Perioral Dermatitis
Clusters of small red bumps or pustules around the mouth. It can also appear around the nose or eyes and is often accompanied by dryness, burning, or irritation.
4. Rosacea
Persistent redness with acne-like bumps or pustules, usually affecting the centre of the face. Flushing, burning, and skin sensitivity can also occur.
5. Keratosis Pilaris
Tiny, rough, skin-coloured or red bumps that feel more like uneven texture than pimples. It’s commonly found on the cheeks, arms, and body.
