JD
Jun 25, 2008- May 28, 2026

We are heartbroken to share the passing of one of our beloved kitty clients, JD.

The last few years were not easy for JD. He had been living with diabetes for many years, requiring twice daily insulin injections, and more recently, kidney disease. Through it all, he handled every shot, medication, and treatment with grace and patience, making it easy to care for him despite the challenges he faced.
JD was the sweetest boy, loving, trusting, and endlessly gentle.

He loved his routines, especially his famous “tub time.” Fellow cat people will understand! We would run the tub slowly so he could enjoy endless fresh drinks, and while he relaxed, he happily accepted plenty of brushing. It was the perfect combination and made cleaning up cat hair much easier. That was JD! Always finding a way to make things a little easier.

This business is deeply personal. We are welcomed into our client’s homes and trusted with the care of their beloved pets and their homes. It is a responsibility we never take lightly. Over time, strong bonds form with the animals in our care, especially with long time clients like JD and his late brother, Kofi.
We sadly said goodbye to Kofi last year, and we like to think he was waiting for JD on the other side. We imagine the boys reunited once again; chasing birds and mice, running pain free together.

It has been our absolute honour to care for these boys over the past 10 years. We loved every minute of it, even the difficult moments, vet visits and emergency care.
A special thank you goes out to their mom for inviting me to visit the day before and giving me the opportunity to say our goodbyes. It was incredibly hard, but so grateful for that precious time.

We are sending all our love and hugs to JD’s family and friends during this difficult time.
Until we meet again, JD, our sweet, sweet friend.
Rest easy!

*The month of May wasn’t kind to us for pet losses. After almost 20 years in business it NEVER gets easier. People always ask what the hardest part of having a pet business is? THIS is it!

It’s National Hug Your Cat Day!!! 😻

Yes, some kitties may definitely be overwhelmed with hugs and feel uncomfortable. However there are some kitties who also LOVE it and can’t get enough of it, like my boy Kahlo.
Linkin absolutely hates it and the feelings of restraint and confinement. Jack it slowly getting used to them. Quinn was such a snuggle bu**er and miss him so much.

Do you hug your kitties? Do they hug and snuggle back? Or does your kitty avoid it at all costs?

Here’s a few pics of snuggling with Kahlo & Quinn and a few of our kitty clients, Cody, Benny & Lady Jane Grey.

Twitch
February 3, 2016 – May 4, 2026

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved client Twitch.
Twitch and her feline siblings have been cherished members of our WP family for many years, filling our days with love, laughter, and companionship.
Though she was blind, Twitch never missed a thing. She always seemed to know where her siblings’ food and treats were, was quick to join in playtime, and never hesitated to show a little bit of her spirited personality.
Twitch’s determination, curiosity, and unique charm brought joy to everyone who knew her. She shared a special bond with her feline family and was deeply loved by all who cared for her.

We like to think that her sister, Stormy, was waiting for her and gently guiding her on her journey home.

Twitch will be greatly missed by her feline siblings Cody, Norma, and Esther; her human parents; and her extended family, neighbours and friends.
Sending you all lots of love during this difficult time.

Forever loved, forever remembered.
Until we meet again, my sweet friend. 💔

A tad stressed and completely cat & dog obsessed?!

Last Christmas, I walked into Homesense and spotted this beautiful, quirky picture. I immediately laughed to myself, walked away... then turned right back around to grab a cart.
I always buy myself something from my mom every year and look for the most fitting/unique item I can find. I’m sure she was laughing up above!

I’ve finally found the perfect spot for it on the wall, and I couldn’t be happier. Honestly, nothing sums me up better than this.

People ask me all the time whether I’m a cat person or a dog person. My answer is always, “Why can’t I be both?”

Our little zoo is chaotic most of the time, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Thankfully, they all get along, hang out together, and even eat their timed meals together. It’s always been that way, even with our previous pups, Bailey and Tucker, and our beloved Quinn and Morgan.
Jack is still learning the ropes and that there is also room for him at meal time even though he thinks he has to fend off the wildlife to get his. 🤦‍♀️

Archie & Millie trading smiles for the camera!
The trails and woods are finally looking alive these days. Honestly it’s been so welcomed!

This month has been a tough one on so many levels and with continuing pet losses. Walking in the woods and trails has been an amazing stress release.
As we close out Mental Health month, keep in mind to take time to pause, reflect and reset.

Macchiato (Macchi)
Nov 5, 2014- May 8, 2026

It is with extremely heavy hearts that we share the loss of sweet Macchi on Friday, May 8.
I have found myself postponing writing this all week because somehow putting these words down makes this heartbreaking reality feel even more permanent. Losing a dog as special as Macchi leaves an emptiness that is difficult to put into words, and even harder to fully comprehend.

Macchi has been one of our beloved weekday regulars since early 2020, and over the years I had the privilege of spending countless walks, adventures, and quiet moments with him. To know Macchi was to love him. He brought such a gentle, comforting presence everywhere he went, and his absence is already being felt so deeply.
One of the things that always touched me most was the incredible love and devotion his family had for him. When his mom retired, she made the thoughtful and selfless decision to keep Macchi on our schedule because she believed maintaining his routine, his people, and his consistency was what would make him happiest. Being trusted as one of “his people” has always been an honour I never took lightly. It is a true reflection of the kind of clients we are so fortunate to have; people who love their pets wholeheartedly and always put their wellbeing first.

Our hearts are with Sue, Mike, and all of Macchi’s extended family & friends during this unimaginable loss. He was deeply loved by everyone lucky enough to know him, and he will also be profoundly missed by his feline sibling, Tobi.

I truly hope that somewhere beyond this life, Macchi has found my Bailey and Tucker, and together they are running freely through endless fields, pain free, surrounded by sunshine, and endlessly chasing bunnies.

Thank you, Macchi, for the years of love, trust, companionship, and beautiful memories. You will forever hold a very special place in our hearts and will never, ever be forgotten.

Until we meet again my sweet, sweet friend.
