So today's electrical lesson is on extension boxes and what they are used for, and an example of what they are not used for. This is called an 1110 extension ring,it is used to build onto an existing 1110 device box so you can increase wire fill etc. What extension rings can not be used for is the base box as there is no back and no where to put the bonding conductor. This I think was done by an electrician, which is frustrating. Fire alarm wiring is generally is low voltage however it must be installed to the same code requirements as say you would 110 volt circuit.

I would say this has to be one of the dirtiest smoke detectors I have ever come across, and I have seen a few. All that dust in there looks a lot like smoke inside the sensing chamber, which creates false alarms. It's important to have the fire alarm system checked annually, part of that check is to see if the detectors are getting dirty.

Well I guess I'm up to date with my Onedrive.
This is a public service announcement. At the risk of sounding judgemental here I'm going to say maybe you shouldn't be touching electrical if you don't know the difference between a black and a white wire, or know what the green one is used for. I just saw that in this one install, it sure creates more headaches for the next person who comes along.
