South Saskatchewan River WARNING! The water security agency is opening the dam, so flow rate and volume will be nearly triple in the next while. Avoid any activities at the river. 280-450 is the maximum cubic metres per second an advanced swiftwater rescue tech can manage, and flow is expected to be at 700- so nearly double the ability of a rescuer to save you. Water levels will also be rising as you can imagine. Stay safe. City of Warman

Shortly after 6pm Friday we responded to reports of a structure fire on Redwood Crescent. On arrival 2 homes were engulfed in flames with high winds pushing the 50ft flames unpredictably. 2 other homes were on fire as well as burning material on 4 other homes roofs and melting siding across the back alley on 2 detached garages. 17 Warman Firefighters with 7 apparatus and 3 master streams initially attacked the fire, joined by trucks and crews from Osler Dalmeny and Martensville who fought incredibly hard along side. Only the 2 initial homes were lost, no fire got into any of the other structures involved thanks to the aggressive attack. Fire was not suspicious and all people got out safely, and all firefighters were uninjured but exhausted. Terrible loss for those 2 families that lost their homes but fortunate more were not lost.

We checked and adjusted every bike for function and each helmet for fit- if your kiddos helmet has a “Skid Lid Approved” sticker that’s why! We will be posting safety messages all week as it is week in Saskatchewan! Day 2 of rodeo at TES and HTS tomorrow! International Firefighters' Day (IFFD) is observed on May 4, to honour firefighters for their service internationally, remember firefighters who lost their lives during service and to commemorate firefighters killed in the September 11 attacks on America. To all the Professional Firefighters both volunteer and career out there, thank you!

Big thanks to CIPSRT-ICRTSP Shaylee and Renee for coming in and facilitating “Building a Mental Health Toolkit” for our responders and their families last night. Annually we get our firefighters and partners together to share a meal and learn about mental health and build tools to help us all out. Those back at home are also exposed to mental health challenges, and we are all in this together- it’s not just the responders. Hopefully this pilot course can be rolled out across Canada- happy to be the first to receive it, and thanks for helping put more tools in our mental health toolkit!

Should be 6 inches 15cm of snow here maximum, with up to 50 cm east of LaRonge with the North getting it worse.. issue is 70km gusts for 2 days. The ground is warming so it can’t stick around forever, and this is only a model so hopefully they are wrong.. but heads up and check Saskatchewan Highway Hotline before you travel!

The last Alberta Clipper of the year (we hope) hits tonight through to early Wednesday. Just check highway hotline before travel or commute tomorrow- hope it all melts or doesn’t freeze, but the weather pros can’t say for sure. Just be aware of changing conditions and stay safe!
