On Wednesday, members of Waldheim Fire & Rescue sharpened their skills during Low Angle Rescue training.
From rope systems and patient packaging to teamwork and scene safety, this valuable hands-on training helps ensure we're ready to respond safely and effectively in challenging rescue situations.

When you call 911 for a medical emergency, our Medical First Responders are first on scene to help until the ambulance arrives. We work under the Saskatchewan Health Authority and certify yearly in Basic Life Support and CPR as well as bi-annually in update of skills. Thanks to our dedicated team: Derek Koenig (paramedic), James Hack, Robin Ens, Corey Esperance, Phil Daku and Corinne Scheetz for their service in helping the community when in need. Today is International Firefighters’ Day. As volunteer firefighters—we balance jobs, families, and daily life, yet remain ready to respond at a moment’s notice to protect our community. We pride ourselves on service, sacrifice, and commitment. Today, we honor those who give their time, energy, and courage to stand on the front lines when others need it most.

When the alarm goes off and we hear the voice on the other side, we, like the dispatchers we interact with, want the very best for whatever situation we might be walking into. Often dispatchers are the forgotten members of the call, but make no mistake, they are valuable.

During National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, we honor the calm voices behind the chaos—the unseen first responders who answer every call with courage, clarity, and compassion. In moments of crisis, they are the steady link between fear and help, guiding lives to safety with skill and sacrifice. Day and night, they carry the weight of urgency with unwavering dedication, often without recognition. This week, we pause to say thank you for your service, your strength, and your commitment to protecting our communities. You are heard, you are valued, and you make a difference every single day.

During our first meeting of every month we make sure that all our trucks are checked and ready to go once the alarm sounds, ensuring we can respond in a timely manner.
