What an incredible day at our annual Track Meet hosted at WHS last week! The weather was absolutely perfect, and our students brought enthusiasm, effort, and sportsmanship throughout the day.
Students participated in six track and field events: the 100m, 200m, 50m hurdles, high jump, long jump, and distance throw. After completing their events, students also had the opportunity to challenge themselves in the Open Mile.
We are so proud of all our students for giving their best effort and challenging themselves throughout the day. While it was exciting to see students earn ribbons in their events, what stood out most was the way our students supported one another. Throughout the day, they cheered each other on, celebrated successes, encouraged classmates during challenges, and demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship.
A huge thank you to our staff members for running event stations and helping ensure the day was a success. We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to our parent volunteers who led groups, supported students, and helped the day run so smoothly.
We would also like to thank WHS for generously allowing us to use their track and facilities. Their support helps make opportunities like this possible for our students, and we greatly appreciate their partnership.
Congratulations to all of our athletes on a fantastic Track Meet! We are proud of the effort, determination, and school spirit you displayed throughout the day.

Activity Day 2026
Kindergarten through Grade 3 students participated in our annual Activity Day! While we didn't get the kinda weather we had for Track meet, the students had a fun day outside. They came ready to participate, try their best, and have fun throughout the day.
Students rotated through 20 different stations that focused on developing running, jumping, throwing, coordination, and agility skills. It was wonderful to see students challenging themselves, learning and improving skills, and encouraging one another along the way.
A special thank you goes to our Grade 5 students, who did an outstanding job running the stations. They demonstrated leadership, patience, and enthusiasm as they encouraged younger students to try their best and helped them develop their skills.
Our goal for the day was simple: To be active, try our best, learn and improve our skills, encourage others, and have fun together. Our students achieved that goal!
Thank you to our parent volunteers for leading groups and helping the day run smoothly. Your support helped make Activity Day a tremendous success.

WES Grade Four Field Trip to Fort Edmonton Park 2026
06/14/2026
On Thursday, June 11th the WES grade 2's headed to Weaver Park in Lloydminster.
Students had the opportunity to listen to an interesting historical story of how settlers came to our area of Alberta. They dug in sand for artifacts and learned how to examine their finds carefully. They also tried to reconstruct clay bowls, and touched many special items such as an arrowhead and bison bone. Making butter and tasting it on a cracker, was a favourite! Students also grew to appreciate washing machines after using a washboard. After their hearty lunch, they had fun jumping around in potato sacks. A successful field trip can often be measured by how quiet the bus ride is on the way home. With several falling asleep we can safely say, the students had a fun day. We did leave one item behind. A front tooth that was loose on the way to Lloyd, fell out somewhere in the tall grass. I guess you could say we took knowledge home and left behind a very popular grade 2 experience.
