Our clinic offers midwifery care from early pregnancy to six weeks postpartum. https://www.instagra We attend births at Victoria General Hospital and at home.
We are a group of Registered Midwives who provide complete prenatal, birth, and postpartum care to expecting families. Our clinic operates on a beautiful 5-acre farm just two minutes from Victoria General Hospital. We are opened our doors in March 2016. We host standard and group prenatal care, childbirth prep classes, yoga, and other community resource workshops. Our midwives are Natalie Hicken, Lauren MacHattie, and Sarah Stone.

Happy New Year, one and all!
Every year, we present to you our annual review of births: if you birthed with us this year, check out our calendar and find your baby’s “dot”!
This year we welcomed midwives Jenny Knoll and Kimberlee K**k to our teams, and two of us welcomed new puppies into our homes!
Our midwives were able to be with almost 150 of your beautiful families as you grew and welcomed your babies.
This year, our midwives attended:
- 147 births for 149 babies (2 sets of twins!)
- 86% of births in hospital, 11% at home, and 3% at the Roundhouse birth cottage
- 72% vaginal births, 28% cesarean births (9% planned cesareans, 19% unplanned)
- 49% first time birthers, 51% had one or more children previously
- Largest baby: 4926g / 10lbs 14oz
- Smallest baby: 1390g / 3lb 1oz
- Average baby: 3488g / 7lb 11oz
-Total pounds of baby caught: 1153! That’s as much as a moose!
Fun fact! Our midwives attended the birth of the first baby of 2025 *and* the final baby of 2025 at Victoria General Hospital, who was born just 30 minutes shy of midnight last night. :)
We are honoured to bear witness to your strength, your struggles, your grief and your epic, transformative love. It is a privilege that we get to see every day. Thank you for being with us.
Last year’s review of births included this paragraph which
we think is still relevant:
“By witnessing human lives begin over and over, we see how much each of us is linked to one another. We each have a role as members of our local and global community. We each have a voice. We encourage you to use yours to increase how much the people around you feel loved and safe to be exactly who they are in the world. Start talking about this at home with the people you know best. If you can, grow this practice to include your neighbours, the people you see in your day, those you work with, and those who help you. May you and your family experience unconditional safety and love, and may we collectively fight for those who do not have it.”
Thank you for including us in your lives in your important moments.

We need to raise our collective voices in support of the South Island Indigenous Midwifery Service (SIIMS), an Indigenous-led, culturally safe perinatal care program that has lost funding and will cease to exist if the ministry of health does not act NOW.

Happy New Year, one and all!
Every year, we present to you our annual review of births: if you birthed with us this year, check out our calendar and find your baby’s “dot”!
This year was (mostly) a very happy one for our team. Our primary care team expanded to include the wonderful NP Sara McFadden. Claire Wakefield wished us “goodbye-for-now” while she travels to rural and remote locations in BC to provide locum relief to midwives there. The midwives were able to be with many beautiful families as they grew and welcomed their babies.
This year, our midwives attended:
- 159 births
- 86% of births in hospital, 10% at home, and 4% at the Roundhouse birth cottage
- 75% vaginal births, 25% cesarean births (10% planned cesareans, 15% unplanned)
- 50% first time birthers, 50% had one or more children previously
- Largest baby: 4834g / 10lbs 10.5oz
- Smallest baby: 1525g / 3lb 5oz
- Average baby: 3513g / 7lb 12oz
- Total pounds of baby caught: 1230! That’s as much as a walrus!
There are some very real struggles continuing around the world for many. While it can be hard to hold onto hope, we know that the future world will need to be led by strong humans, who we all can contribute to raising. Last year’s review of births included this paragraph which we think is still relevant:
