You can barely see ‘em here, but we spotted pelicans in Heart Lake, AB. Old news to the locals, but we west coasters were thrilled.

Last week, Trailmark, LGL Limited, and Deninu Kue First Nation delivered the first Climate, Indigenous Knowledge, Resilience, Conservation, Land, and Ecology (CIRCLE) youth camp in Fort Resolution, NWT. The camp brings together Traditional Knowledge, Western science, and hands-on learning to equip youth with the skills, tools, and knowledge to care for and monitor the land

Trailmark’s Dr. Peter Evans was out with the Tsartlip Guardians last week to conduct monitoring of the sounds of the Saanich Inlet. Tsartlip and Trailmark are working together to map the sonic environment both above and below the surface.

The Cross-Canada First Nations Data Sovereignty Task Force is happy to announce our new logo, created by Johnnie Bob. This initiative is a joint First Nations–DFO Task Force to co-develop national policy and guidance on Indigenous data sovereignty within DFO. DM us to learn more!

Trailmark’s Peter Evans and Tsartlip First Nation’s William Morris presented at the 2026 WAHV Conference on a pilot project that conducts Indigenous-led, community-based monitoring of cumulative effects in the Saanich Inlet. We are honoured to support such an important initiative!
