Dear Members,

We are pleased to report that you have voted 96.1% in favour of ratifying our new collective agreement with the employer.

The continued engagement, support and solidarity of CUPE 951 members over the past 7 months of bargaining is what made this agreement possible. This was a collective effort across our local.

I want to thank the entire negotiations committee for their hard work and dedication during this challenging round of bargaining. By working together and supporting each other, we achieved concrete improvements with a fair deal that we can all be proud of.

The employer expects to have their ratification process completed by next week. CUPE 951 will be in touch with more information on implementing new provisions and retro pay once we work out the details with the employer.

In Solidarity,

Kirk Mercer, President, and your CUPE 951 negotiations committee

President Kirk Mercer presented to the BC Government Finance Committee on the importance of investing in post-secondary education, including the University of Victoria (UVic), and keeping BC Transit publicly operated rather than contracting out services.

He also advocated for expanding free transit for children aged 12 and under and promoting the BusReady program across Vancouver Island and throughout British Columbia, helping to create a new generation of transit users while encouraging sustainable and accessible transportation.

Hey Victoria!

Did you know that 1 in 4 people who menstruate report that they’ve had to choose other essentials over period products? This isn’t a choice anyone should have to face.

United Way BC is stepping up to ensure that people who lack access to menstrual products have them, through our annual Period Promise campaign.

Help us Fill the Bus (a full-sized BC Transit bus) with menstrual products Sat. May 30, from 10 am to 1 pm at Tillicum Centre. All product donations (financial donations are also welcome) will go to help local agencies in need.
