The genus name Ranunculus is Late Latin for "little frog" (the diminutive of rana). This probably refers to many species being found near water. Blooms are short lived but provide a vibrant pop of color early spring. Deadhead regularly to continue blooming.
Also, I'm now booking for spring cleanups and gardening lessons!

Snowdrops are done out on the west coast, but they're an excellent addition and joyful surprise every spring. So many varieties and hybrids are available now, the UKs largest collection boasts more than 80 of them!

Mexican mock Orange is an excellent choice fir flowering perennial shrub. It's fairly hardy, stays evergreen and the blooms fill the air with a beautiful perfume. It's also easy to maintain and easy to propagate.

Purple reigns supreme during Late July and early August, as various flowers showcase their captivating purple blooms. The star performers of this season are the hybrid rose, verbena B, and scabiosa, which boast breathtaking purple petals that can't be missed.

Never count out the discount roses! This rose was a rescue from work, destined for the dump after spending two weeks on the clearance shelf. Two years later it's four and a half feet tall, blooms non stop from summer to fall and is an amazing focal point for my entry way. Always check out the Perennials on the clearance shelf, you never know how well they'll come back!

Nature is my go-to inspiration for garden planning. Observing how it reclaims man-made spaces, like this stunning Camassia field, is a treat. These natives are drought-tolerant, self-seeding, and pest-resistant. Plant them a year in advance for fully developed roots, and enjoy their towering spires and vibrant colors the following spring!

I am absolutely IN LOVE with this poppy!
It was a bit of a surprise as it's been in the ground for 2yrs without flowering. I had no idea it was going to be this color. I distinctly remember a white flower on the card, however I'm not the least bit disappointed!
I apologize for the lack of updates on this page, as my business was in a temporary hiatus while I was leading the Lowe's/Rona Garden Centers as their coordinator. Now that my contract has ended, I am eager to dedicate more time to sharing my knowledge of gardening through individualized lessons on designing and maintaining your dream garden.
