Franco Chirichella is not chasing factory-correct finishes or matching-numbers prestige.
“I’m certainly not concours level,” he says. The interior of his 1972 Alfa Romeo GTV in particular has drawn comments from Alfa purists. “Things that true Alfa purists cringe at. You should see some of the comments I get on Instagram.”
But that’s not what they’re for. “These are driving cars. I won’t drive them in the rain or anything like that, but I drive them, and I drive them with spirit.”

“A look at her CV shows that four-wheel racing clearly suited Price. She raced everything, from King of the Hammers rock crawling, to side-by-sides, to Stadium Super Trucks and Trophy Trucks, in all kinds of series big and small. In took a few years of rising through the ranks, but the victories began to stack up. Price won the Sonora Rally, and took class victories at prestigious desert races including the Mint 400, NORRA 1000, and Baja 500 to name just a few.”

Often referred to as the “Canadian Rat Fink,” Ron Gibbs has made a career of fine lines.
Pinstriping—the art of running a thin, animal-hair brush down the side of a car with machine-like precision—has become a cornerstone of automotive customization. And there is nobody better than Gibbs.

Welcome to our Summer 2026 issue of Autostrada,
The cover story for this issue follows Defender’s Dakar debut and historic 1-2-4 finish through the eyes of factory driver Sara Price ().
Sara has built her career on resilience and adaptability, overcoming the collapse of women’s motocross after rising to the top of the sport before reinventing herself through stunt driving and off-road racing. Her success in desert racing eventually led to a factory seat with Defender for the 2026 Dakar Rally, where she and navigator Sean Berriman finished second in class as Defender earned an impressive 1-2-4 result in its Dakar debut.
A big thank you to Sara, and the team at JLR as well as the talented Matt Bubbers for their support in bringing this feature to life.
We continue to be inspired by the momentum Autostrada has built since we began this journey more than 11 years ago. None of this would be possible without the support of our loyal readers, advertising partners, contributors, and community.
Thank you for continuing to believe in what we do and for being part of this journey with us.
See you in September,
Lucas & Sean

What if automakers are making EVs ugly on purpose?
In his debut column for Autostrada Magazine, Thomas Holland (), co-host of The Grand Tour and Throttle House, argues that brands like Ferrari and Mercedes-AMG aren’t failing to design beautiful EVs. They’re deliberately making them look strange because they want them to fail.
The resulting vehicles have four-digit horsepower figures and styling that feels more appliance than aspiration.
Holland’s first target: the new Ferrari Luce.

The Brabus Bodo represents a defining moment for Brabus, marking their growth from high-performance tuners to creators of their own bespoke hyper-GT.
Eight years after the founder’s passing, this namesake tribute asks the question, what if Bodo Buschmann had time for one more project? From the press release: “I want to build a large coupe,” we would hear Bodo say time and again. “A Gran Turismo. Attitude-forward, high-class, unapologetic. I want it to be inspired by the golden age of the automobile, yet translated into modern day. Progressive, bold, effortless in its presence, powerful and undeniably BRABUS.”
