Vancouver island fam! I’m playing in Cumberland at the Wave tomorrow night 🥳🥳

I turned 37 the other day. I’ve never been a shirtless-selfie person, but I’m posting this because I’m proud of the work behind it.

Life with two little kids and a packed schedule doesn’t leave much room for “me,” but I’ve always tried to take care of my health — even if I don’t talk about it much.

Movement has been my therapy: cycling, mountain running, squash. Then the hip and low-back pain hit. Some days I couldn’t even lift my daughter out of her crib. I finally saw a specialist and learned I have a hip impingement. The prescription? No running, no road biking, no racket sports (or most other spots for that matter). Basically, no more of the things that made training fun.

So, at the start of the year, I pivoted and started hitting the gym. I set a goal: gain 15 lbs of muscle. I’ve weighed 165lbs my entire adult life, so I wasn’t sure it was possible — mostly, I just wanted something to work toward.

Today’s weigh-in: 182 …Birthday cake may have contributed a bit, but I’m officially past my goal! 🥳💪🏻🎂

Wholesome Mexican family vacay content dump incoming… 1 week in Cancun and 1 week in Oaxaca City with my girls. I switched my phone off the whole time and it felt soooo good to disconnect from everything. I’d also like to note that this is a highlight reel. Pictured are some moments of joy although travelling with little kids ( 2 and 4) is no joke so I don’t want to pretend we’re a perfect family here. We got our asses handed to us but we still did it! 😅💪🏻

1. Daily jungle walks with the girls at our resort

4. Getting litty in the kiddie pool (I actually quit drinking this year but I was clocking 4-8 hours a day in here with them so drinks were necessary to survive)

8. Reality: This is just the ramp up to a meltdown so bad we had to leave after only 30 mins on site. A tough one to swallow after renting a car and a 3+ hour drive each way to get there. Lesson of the day: little kids don’t care about historical sites, especially hot ones 🙃🥵

15. First night in Oaxaca City. After a week at an all inclusive we were SO happy to be thrown into such a culture rich city
16. A quick wake up call that we’re not in an all inclusive anymore haha. Got back to the hotel to find ‘s purse got slashed. Luckily they didn’t get anything 😅
