This past weekend some of our students braved the rain and cold to head to Gabriola Island to learn basics in surveying! 🏝️

Brody from Turner and Associates came out to teach the basics in field surveying using and RTK and a Totals station. Our students gained hands on experience while mapping the natural park boundaries at Gabriola Sands Park.

What did this crew get up to when they weren’t surveying?
The rest of the weekend was spent exploring fossil beach, Malaspina galleries, the makers market, went oyster hunting, and most importantly, they visited the Paradise Island Alpaca Farm 🦙.

Also a major shoutout to pages marina for hosting us at their camp site over the weekend as well!

EOS 201: Sedimentary Geology headed to Pender Island this last weekend to look at some fun and funky carbonates! (we love Medicine Beach)

EOS 313 went along the Strickland to explore the Saanich Inlet, collect samples and take in allllll the beauty the ocean it to offer! 🌊
