The Annual Terry Fox Run has become a fall tradition in Canada, with more than 650 communities, big and small, urban, and rural, English, and French, fundraising for cancer research. On Thursday, October 19 at 10:19 a.m., millions of people worldwide and SSI employees will practice how to "Drop, Cover, and Hold On" during ShakeOut Earthquake Drills.

SSI marks International Women's Day by recognizing the important fight for opportunity women face in the workforce. Women in shipbuilding and technology still only make up a third of the workforce.

Today we call out this imbalance and renew our commitment to embrace equity and do better in our organization and our industry. We seek to create a corporate culture that embraces these values of equity, diversity, and inclusion through continued action.

We would like to thank everyone that had donated and thank you for making SSI Food and Warm Clothing Drive a successful one.

We managed to collect a bountiful amount of clothing donations for the Anawim Houses for Men and Women and food donations plus managed to raise $570 for the Society of St. Vincent De Paul Vancouver Island.

This would not be possible without everyone’s contributions. Thank you SSI!

Saying goodbye to the Summer and celebrating the multiculturalism of the team, the marketing crew held a Brazilian barbecue party.

The team made some Brazilian meals and desserts, and they could learn and share their experience.

Thanks to the fellowship fund, the team could have a great time talking about our foreign experiences and learning a little more about this beautiful country.

In celebration of Indian Independence Day & Multiculturism, our small East Indian community at SSI organized a potluck lunch where we prepared some popular East Indian dishes and various cultural dishes.

We looked for an excuse to have some phenomenal multicultural foods and share some yummy memories with our co-workers. We enjoyed Southeast Asian flavors and some ice cream treat from Ice Keem. (Filipino fusion small batch ice cream)

I scream, you scream, we all scream for Ice Cream and Pizza!

On July 7th, SSI and its staff celebrated Pizza and Ice Cream Day! A time to hang out on the front lawn, enjoy the warm weather, and a chance to mingle with colleagues. Employees’ families are all welcomed to these events.

This was a great opportunity to meet the new hires and catch up with each respective team. Truly, a fun day!

The fellowship fund is one way SSI is making it easier for teams to show appreciation for each other and build camaraderie.

Last week, the marketing team took advantage of the fund to welcome two new members, Hunter Day and Tayná Valente.
