Looking back at the 2009 CLS and 2012 SLS AMG alongside today’s S-Class, CLE and all-new CLA, you can see just how much Mercedes-Benz headlight design has evolved over the years.

Each represents a different era and a different design language, yet each remains unmistakably Mercedes-Benz.

Earlier designs were defined by sculpted housings, distinctive shapes and projector lenses that gave each model its own character. As lighting technology advanced, headlights became an even greater part of the vehicle’s identity, incorporating innovations such as DIGITAL LIGHT and increasingly intricate LED signatures.

Today, that evolution continues with the latest three-pointed star-inspired lighting signatures, bringing one of the most recognizable symbols in automotive history directly into the lighting design.

Technology changes. Design evolves. But creating a Mercedes-Benz that is instantly recognizable remains at the heart of it.
