“This program delivered.” – Emeka Ajah, Building Builders Mentee
Power Engineering student Emeka Ajah, from Coastal Mountain College, joined the Building Builders Mentorship Program to gain real-world insight into industrial and construction settings. Matched with LNG Canada Mentor Quinlan Harris, Emeka explored how power engineers contribute to large-scale infrastructure—from equipment installation and commissioning to energy efficiency and safety protocols.

Valera Voronin recently joined us for a Building Builders site visit to EllisDon’s PNE Amphitheatre project, where he had a powerful moment of clarity and inspiration.
Meeting a Senior Project Manager who successfully pivoted into construction after earning a business degree helped Valera see a path forward for himself:

From exploring how 3D software shapes project design and logistics, to seeing tradespeople in action on the manufacturing floor, the visit offered a unique window into the full project lifecycle.

Over 600+ BCIT trades students came together for the 2nd annual BCIT – Building Builders Mentorship BBQ—and it was a huge success!
The energy was high, the food was amazing, and the conversations were full of purpose. From sharing mentorship stories to discussing career journeys in the trades, it was a powerful reminder of how mentorship can shape futures, both personally and professionally.
Thank you to everyone who attended, shared, and contributed to making this event so impactful. Also, a big shoutout to Marita and the incredible BCIT: British Columbia Institute of Technology team for hosting!
