What a beautiful way to start the day. Listening to music (the birds singing), chatting to my friends (my plants), and doing something creative (arranging the flowers), all while enjoying my coffee!

Treat Dad to a Burger and Fries this Father’s Day 🍔🍟……for Dessert!
This sweet combo comes complete with a fully loaded “burger” cupcake with the works: melty cheese, crisp lettuce, ketchup, mustard, and just the right finishing touch. And of course, a side of “fries” (almond sugar cookies) lightly dusted with a little extra “salt” for that perfect crunch.
A playful, delicious way to celebrate the dads who deserve the full-meal deal 💛
I was finally able to make one today so you can see what they will look like when they are available on the stand this weekend. Give me a 👍🏻 if you’re hoping to get one for YOUR dad this weekend!

🌼 A bouquet with a beautiful purpose. 🌼
This vibrant arrangement headed out yesterday for the memorial table at a 50th graduation reunion. The request was simple: bright, cheerful colours to celebrate lives well lived and memories well cherished.
While memorial flowers are often thought of as soft and subdued, this bouquet is a reminder that remembrance can also be joyful. It can reflect laughter shared, friendships formed, milestones achieved, and the countless moments that made someone special.
Fifty years is a remarkable milestone, and I’m honoured that these blooms could be part of a gathering filled with stories, memories, and celebration.
Wishing everyone who attended had a wonderful reunion and a chance to reconnect with both old friends and treasured memories.

The stand is ready to go! 🌸🍰
This weekend marks the last of the peonies for the season, and peony season always seems far too short. If you've been thinking about taking some home, now's the time. All flower arrangements are $20.
You'll also find plenty of sweet treats tucked into the cooler:
🎂 Dot Cakes
🍫 Brookie Mini Dippers
🥜 Gourmet Reese's Peanut Butter Jumbo Cookies
Whether you're stopping by for flowers, dessert, or a little bit of both, we'd love to see you.
Flowers, cake, cookies, and sunshine... sounds like a pretty good weekend to me. ☀️🌸🍰

Social media gets a lot of criticism for being full of advertising, influence, and yes - even propaganda.
When you dig a little deeper into the definition, propaganda isn’t always something sinister. At its core, it’s simply information designed to shape opinions or encourage action.
Which got me thinking…
If sharing cheerful little dot cakes in my cute new little cooler counts as propaganda, then I suppose it’s the kind I can get behind. 😄
No outrage. No division. No noise designed to make you angry.
Just a gentle nudge toward celebrating life’s moments - big or small - with something sweet.
Birthdays, graduations, dance recitals, thank-yous, or just making it through a tough Tuesday… our little dot cakes are ready for it all.
So yes, I suppose I’m here influencing you today - encouraging you to smile, support local, and maybe enjoy a little cake.
This weekend you’ll find dot cakes in two flavours: vanilla cake with vanilla icing, chocolate cake with chocolate icing as well as mini Brookie Dipping Boxes, and gourmet Reese’s Peanut Butter Cookies tucked into the cooler and they all freeze nice (so you never find yourself😜).
I suppose there are worse things to be tempted by. 🎂💕

Sometimes flowers have a way of opening doors to the most unexpected conversations.
During our visit to Salt Spring Island, Bengy and I had a little list of places we hoped to discover, and Salt Spring Kitchen Co. was near the top. One morning, while on the hunt for a cinnamon bun from a bakery that had been highly recommended to us, we found ourselves wandering through the same little complex that housed the company's flagship store. Of course, we had to go in.
As fate would have it, a woman was delivering flowers to the shop just as we arrived. The blooms were absolutely beautiful, and before long the flower delivery woman, the lovely woman behind the counter, and I were all gathered around admiring them. Anyone who loves flowers knows how quickly complete strangers can become friends when blooms are involved.
After a few minutes, the woman behind the counter smiled and said, "Oh, I should introduce you to Melanie. She's the owner of Salt Spring Kitchen Co."
What followed was one of those conversations that stays with you long after you've gone home.
Melanie shared the story of how the business began fourteen years ago in the kitchen of her home, making preserves for the Salt Spring Saturday Market. She spoke about the early days, the hard work, and the excitement of growing something from scratch. Then came the phone call that changed everything. Thrifty Foods wanted to carry their products.
From there, the business evolved, expanded, and eventually found its way into stores and even Costco roadshows. They have a commercial kitchen and a storefront now!
I loved hearing every bit of it. I always find inspiration in the stories behind successful ventures. There's something special about hearing firsthand how an idea, a passion, and a lot of determination can grow into something much larger than anyone initially imagined.
And to think, the entire encounter started because three women were standing around admiring a bucket of beautiful flowers.
It's a lovely reminder that flowers don't just connect stems and petals - sometimes they connect people and stories too. 🌸💕
