💔 Sinead O'Connor, a music legend, exemplified courage and conviction throughout her life. Her haunting voice and emotionally charged lyrics captured hearts worldwide. In a defining moment on "Saturday Night Live" in 1992, she tore a picture of Pope John Paul II, bravely confronting the Catholic Church's child abuse issues.
Amidst fame and Grammy nominations, Sinead remained unyielding. Rejecting traditional success, she focused on using her platform for social justice and human rights. Her unapologetic authenticity inspired countless artists and individuals.
Let's celebrate Sinead O'Connor, a true visionary who fearlessly used her talent to stand up for what's right, leaving an enduring legacy of hope and change. Her music will echo in our hearts, and her activism will continue to inspire action against injustice.

Fashioned after the original “Buffy Sainte-Marie”: 40”x40” acrylic on canvas by artist Christopher Lawry, and donated by Postcard Punk to VNFC in honour of Truth and Reconciliation Day 2022.

“My intent was to donate an original painting to the Victoria Native Friendship Centre in honour of Truth and Reconciliation Day here in Canada. I had not come up with my muse until I watched a documentary called RUMBLE about Indigenous peoples’ influence on Rock and Roll.
It was there that I learned how important Buffy Sainte-Marie has been in raising awareness and speaking out about the atrocities of residential schools for the 60 years of her life.

The black element represents the past that was stolen. The white element represents the colonialism that was forced upon them. The orange element represents truth, healing, and reconciliation.”
