The painted skulls by always start a conversation among visitors here at Studio 106. The artist has stated that painting skulls helped her overcome her fear of death. We currently have a boar, some buck, and a Cape buffalo, each intricately and uniquely painted with detailed motifs. Just look at those shadows cast by the buffalo’s horns.
Contemporary indigenous artist .art has brought us a fantastic collection of new works. It’s always great to see what our artists have been working on and it looks like Nerissa Layton has been busy!

‘s brilliant kiln-cast glass salmon depict these majestic creatures with incredible detail while using the materiality of glass to its full effect. Highlighting multiple species and their sexes (sockeye and coho pictured here), these salmon seem to swim through sunlight. Each one is unique. A beautiful labour of love and respect for these incredible keystone creatures of the Pacific Northwest.
