The David Foster Foundation
Welcome to the new and official page for The David Foster Foundation! đź’š

Over the past 40 years, the David Foster Foundation has had the profound honour of walking alongside more than 1,600 families through one of the most challenging journeys of their lives. Families who left everything familiar behind, held onto hope through the hardest moments, and trusted us to help carry some of the weight.
Their strength is the reason we do this work. And thanks to our donors, supporters, and community, we've been able to be there for every one of those families.
Today, we'll come together to celebrate a milestone that is about so much more than a number. Saturday evening's free concert at the Inner Harbour has been made entirely possible through the generosity of our incredible sponsors. Every donation from the gala goes directly into a restricted fund used solely to support the children and families navigating a major organ transplant. That is a commitment we are deeply proud of.
We are grateful beyond words to mark this moment with all of you. đź’ś

Only one week left until we gather together for a milestone that means the world to our foundation.
Forty years of families who trusted us with their most vulnerable moments. Forty years of donors and supporters who showed up with open hearts. Forty years of hope made possible by a community that refused to look away.
We are deeply grateful for every single person who has been part of this journey, and we cannot wait to celebrate with you in Victoria on August 7 & 8.

Calvin's Story đź’ś
Just over eight years ago, Calvin's parents rushed their son to the Alberta Children's Hospital after two weeks of worsening illness. The diagnosis that followed was devastating: Calvin's kidneys were failing, and he would need dialysis immediately.
What followed were three years of peritoneal dialysis, twelve hours a day, seven days a week. His parents adapted with remarkable grace, finding ways to give Calvin as normal a childhood as possible.
In October 2020, Calvin was placed on the transplant list. A beloved friend at the Alberta Children's Hospital, Auntie Allisson, came forward wanting to donate. Though she wasn't a direct match, she entered the Kidney Paired Donation program, and on January 25, 2022, Calvin received his life-saving kidney transplant.
In the months following the transplant, both parents took leave from work to focus entirely on Calvin's recovery. The David Foster Foundation stepped in to help cover household bills and groceries, giving them the freedom to be fully present for their son during the moments he needed them most.
Today, Calvin is a fearless, joyful boy who faces every day with a spirit that inspires everyone around him. As he boldly declared, "I can do this. I am brave."

Forty years ago, a little girl in a hospital room made a simple wish. She just wanted to see her sister. That one moment, and David Foster’s quiet act of kindness, sparked something that has since changed the lives of more than 1,600 Canadian families.
As we count down to the 40th Anniversary Celebration in Victoria in August, this is a beautifully written piece that takes you back to where it all began.

When a family receives the news that changes everything, the financial weight that follows is often invisible to the rest of the world.
Rent still needs to be paid. Groceries still need to be bought. Life at home doesn’t pause even when everything else does.
That is why the David Foster Foundation is here. No family should have to face that alone. đź’ś Explore all the ways you can help at www.davidfosterfoundation.com.
