Share Your Voice in the 2026–2027 Budget Process
The Board of Education of School District No. 22 (Vernon) is inviting students, families, staff, and community members to take part in shaping the District’s 2026–2027 budget.
As part of the annual budget development process, Trustees are seeking feedback to help guide decisions that support student learning, district priorities, and long‑term financial sustainability. Input from our community plays an important role in understanding local needs, values, and perspectives as the Board of Education considers budget priorities for the coming year.
You are encouraged to complete this short online feedback form to share your thoughts and ideas. The form is open for input until 11pm on Wednesday February 11.

Your feedback is collected, reviewed and considered by the Board of Education as policy decisions are made. Feedback on the currently posted policies is due by 4:00pm on February 11, 2026 which is one week prior to the February 18th Regular Board Meeting.

To celebrate service excellence, the Province is inviting the public to nominate outstanding individuals for the Province’s two highest honours.
The Order of British Columbia is the highest honour awarded by the Province and recognizes outstanding achievement, excellence or distinction by a former or current B.C. resident whose contributions benefit the province and elsewhere.
The Medal of Good Citizenship honours individuals whose selfless volunteerism, generosity and contributions have a positive effect on their community.
Nominations close on April 7, 2026, to be considered in 2026.

2026-27 Budget Consultation
The Board of Education of School District 22 invites the public to attend a consultation meeting on the district's finances and budget for the 2026-27 school year. The meeting will take place on January 28, 2026, at 5:30 PM at the School District Board Office (1401 15th Street, Vernon).
The focus of the consultation will be how SD22 can continue to improve student success within available funding.
To inform this consultation, Superintendent Karla Mitchell will begin the evening with an update on SD22's key student data. Secretary Treasurer Adrian Johnson will then provide a detailed financial overview, explaining the sources of revenue and the allocation of funds for various programs and services.
Trustees will be present to hear feedback from the public.
The presentation will conclude with a question, answer, and discussion session where the public can provide their input on the budget.

J.W. Inglis Child Care Facility Feedback
School District 22 invites community feedback regarding the design concept of the new child care facility at J.W. Inglis Elementary in Lumby.
This new child care facility will include 24 spaces for infant-toddlers, 25 spaces for children three to five, and 54 spaces for school-age children.
The new child care spaces are made possible through more than $11.5 million from the ChildCareBC New Spaces Fund. This fund is jointly supported by provincial investments and federal funding provided under the Canada-British Columbia Canada-wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement. British Columbia and the federal government signed an extension to the agreement for 2026-27 until 2030-31.
This feedback form will be open until Friday, January 16, 2026.

School District 22 invites parents/guardians of students currently attending independent schools or children turning 5 in 2026 to review the choices offered in School District 22. We have five comprehensive secondary schools and 14 elementary schools that can meet your child’s needs.

A new child care facility is coming soon to Lumby!
Join us for an information session to learn more about this exciting development on the school grounds of J.W. Inglis Elementary.
Tuesday, January 13, 2026, 5:30pm
J.W. Inglis Elementary School (2287 Shuswap Ave, Lumby)

Winter Break Starts Soon!
SD22 would like to remind families that the last day of school for students prior to Winter Break is Friday, December 19, 2025, and the first day back in the new year is Monday, January 5, 2026. As we approach the Winter Break, we hope everyone enjoys the winter season with loved ones and takes some time to enjoy the beauty that surrounds us.
