Alberta’s government is providing $2.7 million to the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (Amii) to develop an AI literacy framework for the K-12 curriculum.
We want Alberta students learning how to use the tools of tomorrow, today.
That’s why we’re strengthening artificial intelligence education in the K–12 curriculum, so students are better prepared for a rapidly changing world.
We’re partnering with the Amii to bring a consistent, high quality approach to AI literacy across Alberta classrooms.
Through this three year partnership, Amii will leverage its world class expertise to develop classroom-ready learning kits and practical resources that help teachers build confidence teaching AI concepts.
By working with Amii, we’re ensuring Alberta’s approach to AI education meets the needs of students today, and the workforce of tomorrow.
Selenium is an essential trace mineral that plays a critical role in maintaining healthy ecosystems, livestock, and human health.
By following evidence, acknowledging natural variability, and acting early when issues arise, we achieve both responsible development and environmental stewardship.
Let us commit to policies guided by sound science, not misinformation, and a balanced approach that benefits people, nature, and prosperity.
That is how Alberta will continue leading with confidence, responsibility, and trust for future generations.

If passed Bill 22, the Animal Protection Act will be updated for the first time in 20 years. Amendments will improve outcomes for animals in distress or at risk of distress, update definitions, increase fines for offenses, and improve court orders to protect animals from repeat offenses.
Alberta’s government is updating and modernizing the act to protect animals in Alberta to maintain a strong animal protection system.
Bill 22 is an important step for Alberta, underscoring the province’s commitment to animal welfare.
Beyond updating the legislation, it sends a clear message that protecting animals is a top priority.
Alberta is dedicated to ensuring all animals are treated with respect and protected by these safeguards.
After listening to the concerns of Albertans and engaging with key stakeholders, including animal protection agencies, municipalities, veterinarians, and livestock organizations, the government is making significant changes to the Animal Protection Act.
We listened to their input, and we are acting.

Alberta’s government is forming a cybercrime task force to provide recommendations to government to address digital fraud and extortion.
Cybercriminals represent a serious and ongoing public risk by targeting families, seniors and businesses across Alberta for financial exploitation.
The cybercrime task force will provide recommendations on what Alberta’s government can do to address digital fraud and extortion.
The cybercrime task force will explore ways to protect people from scammers who impersonate or use threats to make people give up their personal information or make payments to the fraudster.
The cybercrime task force will explore both legislative and regulatory options and advocacy with the federal government, with a focus on consumer protection and public safety.

We have some different paintings on display in the office. The interesting part is the artist used to work in this same office building many years ago! It is a small world.
If you are interested in any of the paintings stop in!

I attended the Lakeland College Farm 4.0, From Dirt to Data conference on April 9th. This is the annual, student-led agricultural technology conference and trade show hosted by Bachelor of Agriculture Technology (BAT) students in Vermilion. It connects producers with modern ag technologies like drones, AI, and data management tools, aimed at improving sustainable, data-driven farming practices.

Our government is leading the way in breaking down interprovincial trucking barriers, making it faster and safer to move goods across Canada.
That’s why we developed the Canadian Trucking Regulations Hub, a made-in-Alberta digital tool that helps truck drivers navigate regulatory and operational differences across Canada.
Through the Hub, we are bringing everything together in one place, saving time, reducing confusion and helping industry operate more efficiently.
Our made-in-Alberta solution will support truckers across Canada, with long-term management transitioning to the Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators (CCMTA) in fall 2026.

Alberta proudly supports taking action to protect nature and biodiversity, but Canada’s Nature Strategy must reflect the constitutional reality of land management, and the work the provinces are already doing.
Federal reporting measures do not capture the full picture of conservation in Alberta where we not only meet the intents of Canada’s 30 by 30 goal but far exceed it.
We are calling on Ottawa to respect regional realities and recognize Alberta’s success in managing one of the largest and most carefully regulated public land bases in the country.
When advancing national conservation targets, Alberta expects full recognition of provincial jurisdiction by the federal government.

Our government is committed to ensuring Albertans can access innovative treatments that support people in managing chronic conditions and improving their quality of life.
Alberta’s government is expanding the Insulin Pump Therapy Program to include the Omnipod 5, a life-changing, cutting-edge insulin pump designed to make managing diabetes easier than ever.
The Omnipod 5 is the first pump of its kind to be covered in Alberta, using real-time data from a continuous glucose monitor to automatically adjust insulin and maintain glucose levels within a target range.
Alberta continues to offer some of Canada’s most comprehensive health benefits, and this investment gives Albertans with diabetes access to life-changing technology that simplifies daily care and supports better health.

Vimy Ridge Day commemorates the 1917 Battle of Vimy Ridge – where all four Canadian infantry divisions assembled to take German-held northern France. This was a pivotal battle of WWI and defining moment for Canada’s identity.
Today, we remember the bravery and sacrifice of the Canadian soldiers who fought together to take German held ground at the Battle of Vimy Ridge in northern France.
Among them were Albertans – farm kids, labourers, and students – who were tough as nails and refused to back down as they fought their way up the ridge.
Vimy Ridge was one of the First World War’s defining battles for Canada, and it came at a heavy cost. More than 10,600 Canadian soldiers were killed or wounded, including over 3,600 who never returned home.
The victory at Vimy Ridge marked a turning point for Canada and helped define us as a country. Today, all Albertans are encouraged to take a moment to remember the courage of those who fought, the lives that were lost, and the lasting impact they had on our nation.
Lest we forget.
