Support the Ma'amtagila Nation's Hiladi Rematriation Project — a place of cultural resurgence, land stewardship and resistance to ongoing colonial industrial activity on stolen land.
By contributing, you are directly supporting Indigenous-led rematriation, cultural resurgence and the protection of land and water for generations to come.
Ma'amtagila Rematriation Project In the fall of 2019, the Little Big House was built by students and members of the community in the territories of the Lekwungen and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples. This is part of a cultural resurgence and rematriation project of the Ma'amtagila people on their territory who will be returning to their traditio...

"No amount of dollars will bring species back from extinction," - Lucero Gonzalez Ruiz, Conservation and Policy Campaigner.
Canada’s nature plan promises $3.8B for protection — but Carney promises unchecked destruction In isolation, the federal government’s new nature strategy, A Force of Nature — released in March and backed by a $3.8-billion commitment to protect 30 per cent of lands and waters by 2030 — might appear like progress.
Yup, you heard that right — our Forest Minister just said that caribou are "not smart" because they get "spooked" by logging, and that's what's driving their extinction.
Eight out of eighteen southern mountain caribou herds are gone, and Ravi Parmar's comment is extremely concerning regarding the future of the remaining ten herds.
We need to mobilize against extinction. Write a letter to Ravi Parmar today: WildernessCommittee.org/Caribou

This is the state of a forest mapped by the federal government as critical spotted owl habitat.
Our fact-finding team just returned from Fire Lake, where we found a BC Timber Sales logging operation mowing down old-growth forests within this federally-mapped critical habitat. Some of the trees being felled are many hundreds of years old.
We urgently need you to write to government leaders and demand protection for these critical forests ➡️ https://www.wildernesscommittee.org/take-action/bc-must-stop-logging-spotted-owl-critical-habitat

For his unwavering love of SELE₭TEȽ and leadership of the Douglas Treaty Right to steward salmon and their habitat, the Wilderness Committee has awarded W̱SÁNEĆ elder ZȺWIZUT Carl Olsen with the 2026 Eugene Roger’s award – presented every year to conservationists who work exceptionally hard to protect nature.
It is not often in our work to build a better world that we get such concrete victories as we saw in the fight to protect SELE₭TEȽ from highway construction.
It was so great to gather with the SELE₭TEȽ Goldstream Protectors and everyone who made this possible at SELE₭TEȽ when the salmon berries were ripe, and the baby fish were swimming in the river.
We are especially grateful for the steadfast and gentle leadership of W̱SÁNEĆ elder ZȺWIZUT Carl Olsen, who started raising awareness and gathering people at this place over three years ago. ZȺWIZUT’s family, in accordance with W̱SÁNEĆ protocol, ensured witnesses were present and ZȺWIZUT was blanketed by his family for the work he has been doing.

Did you see Wednesday night’s banner drop? Ravi Parmar, the Minister of Forests, has been backtracking on old-growth protection but we know people care.
Lots of cars were headed out to Langford, Parmar’s riding, and lots of cars were giving us honks and thumbs up.
It's nice to know that the people care about old-growth, even if Parmar does the opposite of what people want. We will persist.

NEW REPORT: Our new report, Growing Nopiming Park After the Fire, examines the forests, wildlife and nature experiences lost to fire in Nopiming Provincial Park and provides recommendations to care for this special park in the future.
“Nopiming Park has provided us with a cherished nature destination for 50 years, giving us access to wilderness,” said Wilderness and Water Campaigner Eric Reder.
“While much of the forest is gone now, Nopiming is again offering us entrance, this time to an understanding of proper ecological care for parks and wilderness.”
Growing Nopiming Park after the fire Read the report Overview In 2025, unprecedented early May wildfires demonstrated that Manitoba is not prepared for the fire threat that is brought on by climate change. Nopiming Provincial Park suffered extensive damage, but the need to recover nature — which parks are designated to protect — ha...

"Rather than rolling out the carpet for fracked gas projects, the federal government should be laser focused on investing and supporting projects that actually improve the lives of people — clean energy, housing and health care.” - Isabel Siu-Zmuidzinas, Climate Campaigner, Wilderness Committee.
