Hullabaloo was launched in 2011. night.

The original concept for the festival was conceived by Youth Slam Coordinator RC Weslowski, Music and English teacher Trevana Spilchen, and then WordPlay Poetry-in-Schools Coordinator Chris Gilpin, all of whom are also practicing spoken word artists. The aim was to build upon the already burgeoning movement of Poetry Slam Clubs that were sprouting up in schools and connect these groups together in

Welcome to Hullabaloo 2022 (It Rhymes!) We'll be kicking off this year's festival with a video creation workshop with Hullabaloo Assistant Director, K.P. Dennis!

When? Thursday March 10th and Tuesday March 29th, 3-5 pm!
Deadline to register for the March 10th workshop is Tuesday March 8th.

Workshop Description: In this workshop we will explore the 'how to' of poetry video creation from concept to realization. We will learn the tips and tricks of filming, editing, and using what you have to create a visually stunning story for the screen. You don't need a million dollars, just a vision!

Plans for Hullabaloo 2022 It Rhymes are well underway. It'll be happening April 21st-23rd online featuring a Video Poem Festival, our Alumni Showcase and a Saturday night feature performance by Billie the Kidd. We're in the process of confirming all our details but it should be another terrific event at BC's Youth Spoken Word Festival.
