accessCITY: helping you get from Point A to Point B, worry-free!

Sidewalks play an important role in cities – they protect us from traffic, connect us to our neighbours, and support the oldest and most common form of transportation in the world: our own two feet. Yet, as a result of uneven pavements, a lack of drop curbs, improperly designed sidewalks and otherwise sub-par or non-existent walkways, more and more people with accessibility concerns are choosing to avoid their city sidewalks and stay home out of fear of fall and injury.

accessCITY is in an interactive wayfinding tool that helps people with accessibility needs navigate from Point A to Point B, worry-free. By clearly identifying sidewalk infrastructure deficits, accessCITY allows people using strollers, wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, canes and other mobility aids to visualize their walking routes and navigate their city’s walkways based on their own mobility concerns. Ultimately, accessCITY helps to create cities that are inclusive, happy, and safe for all.
