The BC Women in Entrepreneurship Circle was launched by Lean In Vancouver executive team in early 2026 to bring women together for open, supportive conversations about startups, innovation, and career growth.
This community is designed for women who want to learn from one another through shared experiences, meaningful connections, and honest conversations.

💫 Meet one of our inspiring speakers for Women in Entrepreneurship 💫
Dr. Sherry Zhao is the Founder & CEO of Kalino Bio, a Vancouver-based biotech company revolutionizing pet health. With a PhD in Chemistry and experience in pharmaceutical development at Genentech, Dr. Zhao combines deep scientific expertise with sharp business leadership to drive innovation in animal health.
Before launching Kalino Bio, she served as Regional Director at Mitacs, where she scaled business development teams and secured major government contracts. Today, she’s leading Kalino Bio through animal studies following a successful oversubscribed founding round.
Sherry is also a UBC Young Alumni Award recipient, serves on the board of the Vancouver Entrepreneurs Forum, contributes to the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade, and teaches AI applications at Simon Fraser University. Her journey - from Peking University to building a thriving company in BC - is a testament to resilience, vision, and giving back to the community that shaped her.
