The 70th anniversary of The Canadian took place at Pacific Central Station last week. The Canadian is a significant piece of Canadian history, highlighting the value of passenger rail journeys. Thank you to VIA Rail for organizing this great event, I was happy to celebrate this milestone in Vancouver!

Today at the Legislature, my fellow MLAs and I met with the Council of Senior Citizens Organizations (COSCO) and the Jewish Seniors Alliance of BC (JSABC) to discuss how government can help support retiring seniors to remain in their own homes for as long as possible. We thank Leslie, Jeff, and Margot for bringing forth the issue and how we can help as MLAs.

I attended the Bring Trades to School Trade Fair this morning with . It was wonderful to see students excited to learn about trades and meeting various facilitators including .futures, , and !

It was a pleasure to meet with Alzheimer Society BC this week at the Legislature. We had insightful discussions and gained a better understanding of the Society’s important work in communities across the province.

Our government will continue to work to address the colonial systems still in place, and that continue to harm Indigenous Peoples. We owe nothing less to future generations. 🧡🧡🧡

🧡 On Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we honour the strength, dignity, and advocacy of Survivors and intergenerational Survivors. We remember the children who were taken and never came home. This day calls on all of us to learn about the history and lasting legacy of the Indian Residential School system, and to engage in meaningful conversations about how we can take action toward reconciliation. Thank you to Indigenous Council for hosting the 4th Annual All Nations Gathering for Healing Medicines at Killarney Community Centre last Saturday.

It was a wonderful day of learning, connection, and cultural immersion. We were also treated to wonderful performances by many Indigenous dancers.

Glad to celebrate the 3rd annual Keefer Rooms & Gain Wah Restaurant Block Party with the Chinatown/DTES community. This alley section is dear to my heart as I grew up here in my youth. It used to run through to Hogan’s Alley at Union Street where now is an on-ramp of the Viaducts. Thanks to Gain Wah Project Steering Committee, DTES SRO Collaborative and DTES Community Land Trust for organizing and sponsoring!
