My favourite pair!
When I was 19, I went to Folk Fest at the beach with my sister and friends. My dad, being the sweetest, gave us each $20 for food (and yes — 15 years ago $20 actually filled you up 😂).

At a men’s cowboy boot stall, I found these cutoffs tucked in the corner. The owner didn’t want to sell them to me because I wasn’t male — but the guys in the shop insisted they’d never seen anyone suit them more.

And just like that, I handed over my $20, and his working hands accepted the offer. I’ve been smiling in them ever since.

My dad still says: “Don’t buy shoes, buy groceries.”
