Yesterday we said goodbye to our cat, Leo. He adopted us in Guelph and spent nearly 14 years weaving through our feet—and our lives.

Leo had a soft heart and loved being part of the action. He was endlessly affectionate with humans, dogged in his pursuit of a cuddle (rarely discouraged by an unwilling participant), and unwavering in his dislike of actual dogs.

He welcomed three new members into his pride with quiet grace, quickly claiming their baby blankets, chairs, change tables and cushions as his own. He endured their love with Labrador-like patience and cat-like indignation—whether being hauled around, stuffed into backpacks, or having his vitals checked as the only patient in a very hands-on game of doctor.

He’s left a permanent mark on our hearts—and most of our furniture.

We’ll miss him terribly.
