Whenever a client tells me they’re having charging issues, the first thing I suggest is they go in with a toothpick and dig out the dust and lint from the charging port. It usually solves the problem! Anything you keep in your pocket is going to attract pocket schmutz. Btw, I’ve also used the same technique to solve drives not being recognized by the USB ports on a computer!

Zoom’s A Lifeline During COVID-19: This Is Why It’s Also A Privacy Risk 03/31/2020

I’ve been asked by a couple of people whether the Zoom videoconferencing app is a security risk. I’ve not heard about any security breaches, and a quick Google search didn’t bring up any hits. I have found concerns expressed about possible privacy issues with some features which allow a chat host to track your attention, like whether you’re actually watching the chat screen or have clicked away, for instance. The only other thing I’ve read about is the usual concerns about use of data collected for targeting advertising, much like every online service. The most frequent tech question I’ve heard lately is whether anything can be done about the lag in chat software like Zoom, FaceTime, Messenger, or Skype. The latency is the result of your machine converting the audio and video to a format it can send + your router determining the next router to forward the resulting packets to for delivery + the next indeterminate number of routers along the path to make the same decision + the fact the packets usually take different paths + the time it takes electrical impulses to travel from router to router + the time for your router to pass the packets to your CPU + the time for your CPU to assemble the packets and pass the stream to your application to show it to you. It’s a miracle it works at all! Lag is inevitable. Accept it.
