June marks National Safety Month. Safety has been at the forefront of SCR’s operations since the beginning.

National Safety Month was established in 1996, making this year its 30th anniversary.

This month serves as an important reminder that safety is a shared responsibility. Every safe decision, thorough inspection, and proactive conversation contributes to preventing incidents before they happen. By staying vigilant, addressing hazards, and looking out for one another, we can help create safer workplaces for everyone.

At SCR Mining & Tunnelling, we're proud to foster a workplace culture where safety is a core value and a priority for every employee, every day.

When it comes to workplace safety, “good enough” simply isn’t good enough.

That mindset can lead to overlooked hazards, increased risk, and eventually, incidents or injuries. Safety isn’t about doing the minimum; it’s about taking the time to properly identify hazards and putting in the effort to address them the right way.

“Good enough” is a mindset that can show up in many areas of life. But on the job, aiming below our potential can have serious consequences.

April 28th is the National Day of Mourning in Canada, dedicated to remembering workers killed,
injured, or made ill on the job. Sudbury was the first region to officially recognize this day in 1991, and it has spread across the world.

This day sees flags flown at half-mast, moments of silence, and community ceremonies to honour victims and renew commitments to safer workplaces.

Please join us in taking a moment of silence to remember.
