Canadian Animal Task Force
Partnering with individuals and communities requesting guidance, support, and resources to humanely manage their companion population and more! 💚💙
Together, We Help Animals. At Canadian Animal Task Force, our work often begins with people — and leads to better outcomes for animals. While we aren’t a traditional rescue organization, we regularly support animals in urgent or at-risk situations. We collaborate with local rescues, shelters, and Indigenous community partners to ensure animals in need are placed with the right groups for ongoing c
On the road again 🎶 off to another On-site Spay Neuter Clinic right here in Alberta. Where could it be this time?
While we’re on the topic of clinics, here’s a little DYK?
One of the many benefits of participating in our clinics is the tattoo each animal receives at the time of surgery.
Ever notice us flipping an ear?
That’s because we’re checking for a tattoo! 🔍
Each tattoo number is recorded and linked to the guardian’s information through their clinic paperwork. If an animal is ever picked up and believed to be lost, that tattoo can help connect them back to their family much more quickly.
It’s a small mark with a very important job.
Now tell us… where do you think Team Task Force is at? 🚐💨 And don’t forget to grab your 50/50 tickets as we’re down to the FINAL DAYS at https://cataskforce.org ✨

Veterinary medicine is about so much more than animals.
It’s about the people who stay late.
The people who show up early.
The people who continue learning.
The people who mentor.
The people who volunteer.
The people who care deeply, even when the work is hard.
Today, on Veterinary Appreciation Day, we’re celebrating the veterinarians, RVTs, assistants, students, support staff, volunteers, and advocates who help make our mission possible.
Whether you’re caring for patients at Task Force Animal Hospital, volunteering your expertise at an on-site spay/neuter clinic, supporting animal welfare behind the scenes, or helping create access to care in your own community — you are part of something much larger.
A movement rooted in compassion, collaboration, and the belief that helping animals starts with people.
Thank you for helping build a future where animals are treated with kindness, dignity, and respect, and where families have access to the support they need to care for the companions they love.
We couldn’t do this work without you. 💙💚

What’s over 5,000? 📈
Wrong answers only… Or are they? 👀
We’ll start:
🐱 The number of times a cat ignores its name.
🐶 The number of times your dog has sniffed the same dang tree.
😼 The number of times we’ve said “please stop licking that.”
(It’s actually our 50/50 jackpot — get in on our website)

Frog Lake First Nation brought us big numbers, full days, and one seriously impressive team effort. 🐾💙💚
Over one weekend in May, 416 animals came through the Frog Lake clinic for spay/neuter, vaccines, tattoos, parasite treatment, medical support, rescue placement, and care.
Behind every crate number was a dedicated team working incredibly hard to care for each animal, guide them through the clinic process, and help make it all happen.
What makes these numbers especially impressive is the team behind them.
This clinic was powered by a small but mighty medical crew, including eager RVTs, students, experienced mentors, and volunteers willing to jump in wherever needed. With an average of five surgery tables running each day and around 30 volunteers supporting the medical area, they accomplished an incredible amount over one weekend.
And yet, it's hard not to imagine what could be possible with a few more veterinary professionals and clinic volunteers on the team. *Yes, this is a nudge!* 😼
Every additional person helps increase capacity, support patient care, and create opportunities for more animals to access services.
Time got a little crunchy, the days were eventful, and the pace was steady… even in the dark! but this team absolutely rocked it.
Together over one weekend:
🔹 416 animals attended the clinic
🔹 275 animals were spayed/neutered
🔹 9 animals received additional medical treatment
🔹 137 dogs and cats were placed with rescue organizations for fresh starts
🔹 7 animals received extra care before being reunited with their families
Breaking that down even further:
🐶 91 dog spays 🐶 79 dog neuters
🐱 49 cat spays 🐱 56 cat neuters
Every surgery, every vaccine, every tattoo, every treatment, every intake, and every safe return home plays a role in improving animal health and supporting families in the community. These clinics are a lot to pull together, and Frog Lake was a powerful reminder of what collaboration, commitment, and heart can accomplish in just one weekend.
A heartfelt thank you to Humane World for Animals Canada for supporting our First Nations clinics and helping make accessible veterinary care possible in communities that need support.
And to our incredible rescue partners who welcomed animals into care:
Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society - AARCS ‣ ARF Alberta - Animal Rescue Foundation ‣ Bandaged Paws Animal Rescue Association ‣ BARC's Rescue ‣ Cochrane and Area Humane Society ‣ Edmonton Humane Society ‣ GALS Animal Rescue ‣ Humane Animal Rescue Team (hart) ‣ Lakeland Humane Society ‣ Leftovers Dog Rescue ‣ Megan's Rescue Efforts Society ‣ Old MacDonald Kennels & Animal Services ‣ Pawsitive Match Rescue Foundation ‣ Second Chance Animal Rescue Society - Alberta
To the volunteers, students, techs, veterinarians, rescue partners, community members, supporters, and everyone who helped make this clinic possible — thank you.
Big numbers. Big effort. Big heart. 💙💚

Now tell us… what do YOU think the final spay/neuter count was? 👀

When people think about animal welfare, they usually picture the animals.
We do too.
But before we can reach a single animal, our team has to reach the community — or meet people where they’re at. 🐶🐱🚐
That means hauling roughly 22,000 pounds of clinic equipment across Alberta. It means long days on the road, early departures, late arrivals, and vehicles that work just as hard as the people behind the wheel.
Right now, the wear and tear has taken its toll of one of our primary transport vans. It alone needs extensive work done including repairs.
Keeping our fleet road-safe means keeping veterinary care accessible.
It means continuing to reach communities, support families, respond to animals in need, and deliver programs where they matter most.
If you’d like to help us keep moving forward, we’d be grateful for your support.

Tires are just one example of the many costs that come with operating heavily used vehicles year-round. Routine maintenance, repairs, oil changes, inspections, brakes, and unexpected mechanical issues all add up over time.
We are incredibly grateful for the support of our current service providers, whose generosity and discounts help ensure our fleet is ready to roll on the next mission.
Every dollar invested is especially valuable, as they help cover ongoing maintenance and operating costs that ensures our vehicles are reliable and our team can continue reaching the communities and animals who count on these programs.

Everyone at the clinic had a job to do that day.
Kade’s job?
Make sure Autumn knew she’d be okay.
Before she headed in for her spay surgery, he paused for a cuddle, told her he loved her, and made sure she got a goodbye kiss.
Honestly, we could all learn a thing or two from Kade.
Thanks for the reminder that a little kindness goes a long way.
You are one cool kid. 💙💚
