She would like everyone to know that her cubby is her safe place right now.
The big scary area outside of the cubby? Mmm... No thanks.

Strangers? Meh

Coming out of the cubby voluntarily? Let’s not get carried away.

But then… someone brings a churro treat, and suddenly Mae is willing to reconsider her position.

Mae is a shy 1 1/2 year old girl who needs someone willing to let her take things at her pace. She may not be the cat who marches up to the front of her kennel demanding attention. She may not even make eye contact with you at first.
But underneath all that nervousness is a very sweet girl with a LOT of love to give who can't resist chin, cheek and ear scritches. ❤️

And if you've ever rescued a scaredy cat, you know about "the moment".
The moment they look at you instead of looking away.
The moment that scared little cat finally decides:
“Okay… I think you're my person.” 🥹❤️
That moment is one of the greatest gifts rescue can give you.

Mae has been around other cats and a dog, and she was an incredibly tolerant and loving mama to her kittens. So we know there's a sweet, nurturing soul hiding behind that very cautious exterior.
She just needs someone willing to be patient enough to discover her. ❤️

🐾 CAT CARE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! 🐾

We are looking for a few more volunteers to join our Cat Care Team! This is in Truro and morning Volunteer opportunity.

Our Cat Care volunteers help with the daily care of the cats and kittens in our building. Duties include:

🐱 Completing daily health checks
🐱 Feeding and refreshing water
🐱 Cleaning cages and changing litter and bedding as needed
🐱 Washing and sanitizing dishes and litter boxes
🐱 Laundry and general cleaning
🐱 Restocking food, litter and other supplies
🐱 Reporting any health concerns or changes noticed during care

Some cats may be shy, feral or unpredictable, so safety always comes first. Volunteers are never expected to handle a situation they are uncomfortable with, and more experienced team members can step in when needed.

If you love cats, don't mind getting your hands a little dirty, and would like to help make a difference for the cats in our care, we would love to have you join the team! 💕

📢 Sweet Gretchen will be back at the Truro PetSmart today for her second chance at finding her fur-ever home. She took a little break from the store to go back to her foster home after she received ZERO applications during her previous stay. 😭 Fingers crossed this time! 🤞

Meet Gideon! 🧡 At just 12 weeks old, Gideon has already overcome more than most kittens ever should. This sweet boy was bottle-fed from a very young age and has blossomed into a happy, affectionate kitten with an endless supply of love to give. Gideon is full of energy and personality! Whether he's chasing toys, wrestling with his brother, or making the sweetest little biscuits on your lap, he loves spending time with his people. He's incredibly social and would be happiest in a home where he gets plenty of attention and playtime. Before coming into our care, Gideon experienced a difficult start after being fed condensed milk as a very young kitten, which led to a medical emergency and some ongoing gastrointestinal sensitivity. Thanks to lots of love and veterinary care, he's doing wonderfully! He is currently thriving on a prescription GI kitten diet. He'll need to stay on this food while he settles into his new home, and any future transition to a regular diet should be done gradually under the guidance of his veterinarian. Aside from this, Gideon is a playful, thriving kitten ready to find his forever family. Gideon can be adopted with his brother, Wish, or separately into a home with another friendly feline companion. He adores people, enjoys the company of other cats, and is ready to fill his forever home with cuddles, purrs, and plenty of biscuit-making. If you're looking for a resilient little sweetheart with a heart of gold, Gideon is waiting to meet you.
