Ewe Design

In preparation for the Clarenville Fibre Festival I have been knitting mitts these last few days. Hope you have marked your calendars and plan to attend on August 22nd and 23rd.

The movie Young Triffie is being shown tonight at Rocky's Place in Trinity by the Trinity Historical Society Inc. When the movie was being filmed I was working for Provincial Historic Sites. One of the buildings used was the Lester Garland Mercantile Premises/Ryan's Shop. Because they were using our buildings a staff person had to be there any time they were using the buildings. The shop part of the building was used as the post office with walls put up outside of the counters. I sat behind those walls and knit to pass the time. The weather was cold and I knit several pairs of half mitts for the crew, they needed their hands warm but needed their fingers out. Also during that time I was working on a collection of hats and mitts with traditional home spun wool (Briggs and Little) and fashionable fun yarns. This collection became the "Triffy Collection". In the spring of 2006 I entered this collection for the Best New Product at the Provincial Wholesale Show and won. As they say the rest is history!

Saw this and thought I'd share. Knitting has many benefits including these.

It's almost the middle of July and while we've had some very beautiful hot days my needles have still been busy! Worksock hats and mitts have been what I have been working on to fill an order. #

The vendors list for the Clareville Fibre Festival is released. Just Kas Studio and Ewe Design will be there (JusKas & Ewe). Happening August 22 & 23 at the Clarenville Event Centre.

Had a lovely afternoon knitting at Hiscock House PHS for WWKIP. We were small in numbers but everyone enjoyed themselves. Nice to see young knitters participating. Thank you to the PHS staff for hosting this event. My afternoon was not very productive, made a mistake in the first set of cables and had to frog!

Get your knitting needles ready for our annual Knitting in Public Day at the Hiscock House in Trinity! Bring along a project in progress or start something new. Share patterns with old and new friends. Light refreshments will be served. Happening from 2:30pm to 4:30pm this Sunday, June 14.
