Artisans' cultural heritage is expressed through the beautiful products they make with skilled hands and traditional tools and techniques. Culture Dock is looking forward to celebrating traditional artisans, every day, on our platform, but for now, today is World Day for Cultural Diversity and Dialogue. It's a day to bring the world together by celebrating differences. It's a good day!

During her first trip to Southern Africa, in 1991, the founder of Culture Dock purchased a beautiful handmade mohair tapestry (view below - photo 1), in Maseru, Lesotho. It is one of only three nations in the world that is completely surrounded by a single country (the others are San Marino and Vatican City) and has the nickname, the âSwitzerland of Africaâ. It even has a ski resort, called Afriski Mountain Resort, high in the Maluti Mountains and they're busy getting ready for their upcoming winter season!

At a time where there is an urgent call to bring Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) voices to the table, the cottage industry modelâalready perfected by Black, brown, and Indigenous communities for centuriesâcould help suggest a new way of work". ~ Rebecca van Bergen, Founder of Nest Artisan Guild.
