🚨🔋Australia has had its first pumped hydro project registered on the main grid in 40 years!

Queensland’s Kidston Pumped Hydro Project has officially been registered in AEMO’s market management system - making it the first new pumped hydro asset to join Australia’s main grid in four decades. 🎉

Built in a former gold mine 285 km west of Townsville, Kidston will soon begin energising its first 125 MW unit, kicking off a major commissioning phase.

When fully complete, the project will deliver:
⚡250 MW of capacity
🕗 Eight hours of long-duration storage
☀️ Integration with an existing solar farm, plus future wind and battery assets

This makes Kidston a cornerstone of a growing clean energy hub in North Queensland.
