Taking Action Against the Rise of Hate: An Intersectional Solidarity Conversation

This 90-minute facilitated conversation will explore best practices, strategies and resilience activities to mobilize against the rise in hate.

Guiding Questions:

1) What actions are employers taking to address the rise in hate-motivated actions and behaviours (e.g., discriminatory nationalism and neo-fascism)?

2) What security and safety steps are being put in place to protect workers, clients, and community members from historically marginalized groups?

3) How are unions addressing the rise in hate-motivated incidents at all levels of their organizations, including in bargaining units and in locals?

4) What resources and tools are needed to support union members and staff?

5) In unions, how are elected leaders and senior staff mobilizing to address hate-motivated incidents, beyond using existing anti-discrimination policies?

The Sojourner Labour Education Lab is hosting the workshop, Meeting Social & Political Moments: Building an Intersectional Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression Toolkit.

This 2-hour workshop includes:

* Case scenarios
* Tips to create a mini-communication plan
* Resilience strategies
